Very nicely done, Bish.
I also like the camo.
Thanks Clint. Kora makes a good selection of them in 72nd for different German aircraft, i also have the Fw 190 one. Not sure if they have them in other scales.
Clint
Thanks mate. I am surprised we don't see these compass swings used more often. It is a bit different.
WOW! Bish...not only have you done yet another masterful base...but the camo on that plane is unique and AWESOME! Great build!
Cheers Toshi.
Looks like another fantastic addition to your collection of art!

Finally got this one wrapped up. Not to much in the way of progress pics as i was just trying to finish it off. But after decals i did some weathering with flory washes and added all the final bits.
fter my lesson on the Me 410 where the underside weathering on a black surface vanished under the clear coat, i did this one heavy with the idea that the clear coat would tone it down. And it did work. This was taken before the final coat and of course i forgot to take one after.
And then it was onto the base. The compase swing is a resin one from Kora. Needs a bit of work but a nice addition. Figures i simply the best of what i have left.
It got there in the end. Thanks for following, and all comments welcome as always.
hogfanfs Bish, That camo pattern is very interesting. Is it a type of cover the German's used during winter months?
Bish,

Bruce, i am not sure. This was the plane that inspired the paint job on my Ar 234, but i did see a similar scheme on a real 234 that was in service in May of 45, so that would not be for winter camo. There are a couple of pics of this 188 after it was captured and there is some light snow on the ground, and i did wounder if it should not be white rather than blue. But every profile of these aircraft and the companies that make AM decals al say blue. So i really don't know.

Cheers Clint. The blue on the upper surface seems to have been used on a number of KG 2 Ju 188's but in different patterns.
Can't believe its been nearly 4 weeks snce i posted an update. My modelling slowed to a crawl for a couple of weeks but its picking up again now. And i did have a couple of issues with the build. So here what i have got done.
I got the main construction finsihed off. I did have one issue, with the forward part of the canopy. The fuselage was slightly wider than the clear piece. So i used some white glue as normal and clamped the fuselage and left for 24 hours. But as soon as i released the clamps it popped back open. So i repeated but this time useing super glue. I know thats normally a no no on clear parts, but i have found its ok as long as its not a colpletly sealed clear piece. As the rear of the canopy was off it was not a problem, and this time it held.
I made a tarp to fill the hole in the front gun position and some wiring for the upper panel.
Then after masking, some primer and paint. I started on the top with the RLM 70 and 71.
Then after masking with white tac, some RLM 79.
I'll leave it to dry for another day then mask and paint the black underside.
Thanks LD. As i always say, its what i am used to. I tend to get sensory overload when i am doing a 32nd aircraft.
"Can you fly this plane and land it?...Surely you can't be serious....I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"
Thanks BK. I just wish i could get some skill in sanding without removing loads of detail. Or maybe i should try fitting the parts properly in the first place
hogfanfs Bish, The office looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to how this one turns out, but, I'm curious, where do the road wheels and tracks go?

It has got a big gun sticking out the front, so its part way there
fermis I just checked the stash...believe it or not...I've got 6 88's on hand! 2-Revell, 2-Hase, 1-Zvezda, in 1/72. And CyberHobby in 48. I guess I am an 88 fan afterall.

I have got a couple of the Italeri ones as well as the Revell and a few more Hase kits. But i keep meaning to get hold of the Zvezda A-5, thats meant to be nice.
That looks really good, Bish. It still amazes me that you do such skilled work in such a small size. You're killing it again. I'll be watching.

2024 Kits on deck / in process / completed

fermis NICE! Was never a big fan of the 88...but I really dig the 188. Side note...the 1/72 Revell 88 is a very nice kit...I'd say better the Hase.

I do like the 88 myself. And i agree, i have the Revell kit, just as well detailed if not better, better laid out on the sprues for other variants without having loads of un-used parts and a lot cheaper than the Hase kit. Just a shame Revell did't do more versions, i know Hase has a lt of options, but an A-1 would be welcome.
Thanks guys.
Chad, its a really nice looking kit, what i would expect from hasegawa. I take it your clearing out a lot of your stash that isn't Airfix.
I have actually never though about whether these belts are steel or brass, i have always asumed the latter. They are just the ones Eduard include in there sets. I have never had any major issues with them, while not as nice as fabric ones, i find they can be laid down faily well if you just have them flat.
I give you kudo's for working with metal belts, are they the steel ones or are they brass. I tried a set of the steel ones and I couldn't get them to bend right for anything.
