So, I felt the itch and picked up an Eduard 1/48 P-39. Interesting plane and I've enjoyed my smaller scale Eduard kits. I'm disappointed with the fit and especially the wing trailing edges- they are VERY thick. What do you guys do for this? I can see taping sandpaper to aflat surface (glass) and carefully working the mating surfaces down evenly on both sides.
The fuselage to wing fit on the upper surface will also be a challenge. Seems like the fuselage distorted inward a bit, which will make for a much wider gap. I wont't be able to push the fuselage outward after the two halves are glued together and the cockpit is installed. It's going to be a real pain to fair in the joint.
I have to say that Tamiya's attention to stiffening parts with ribs and frames really does make a difference. The engineering that went into my Tamiya 1/72 Sturmovik is impressive.
