Was a snap. One time I sent them an email explaining that that I bought the model on eBay and the barrel was missing. I expected them to say that I was SOL since it was second hand purchased. Didn’t hear anything for a couple of weeks then a small box showed up with the metal barrel.
Another time a part was warped so I shot them an email with the info and got my replacement in a couple of weeks. Revell used to be like that too.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
They have been very good with me. Last year I bought the 1/32 F-15E Bunker Buster and the canopy had a slight problem. They sent me a new one in a couple of weeks.
I would call them instead of e-mail and have the Tamiya part number from the Instructions Parts list.
Tamiya is very good about replacing parts. Contact them through their Tamiya USA website: https://www.tamiyausa.com/contact/
They will usually replace parts for free, if not, you can buy whole sprues for a small fee, usually about $5 per sprue.

So today I found out I lost a part of my tamiya Bf109 E4 1/48. I lost a canopy part so there is no way to replicate it. It’s regarding the last out of three canopy parts, the one behind the seat.
Does anyone know how tamiya their “missing parts“ policy works? Or do They even have one?
I hope their is anyone out there who can help me, thanks in advance!
