Hasegawa 1/72 F-35A Completed...
Posted by fotofrank on Friday, March 27, 2020 7:40 AM

This build is dedicated to my kid brother Gerry, Buzz to the family. Buzz was a Systems Engineer on the F-35 program at Lockheed Fort Worth. He was very proud to be involved with the F-35 program. Buzz died two years ago, the result of a massive stroke, at age 52.

I chose this kit for Buzz because the kit comes with a display stand and a pilot figure. I like to pose jets in flight. The kit is built OOB. The paint is MM Light Ghost Grey enamel and MM Neutral Grey. The decals are the kit decals and they worked pretty good although a little fragile. To seal the decals and paint I used Alclad Semi Matte Varnish. I think Buzz would like it. Thanks for looking in.

Nice job. What did you think of the kit, fit, detail etc? I have one in the stash.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Modelcrazy, this is an excellent kit and a simple build. All detail is recessed and includes recessed lines for the placement of the many decals. In fact the decals were more difficult than the build itself. You should be able to complete the assembly in a couple of days, no filler needed. Eduard makes a canopy mask for the kit and the sensor under the nose. Do you have the kit with the tinted canopy? I have another kit in my stash that I may build as a "what-if." I'm not a big fan of stealth, they just are not very attractive airplanes, but I am very proud of this kit that I built for my brother.

That’s a very nice build. I see these things overhead most everyday now flying from Luke, and I am really growing fond of them.

This is a great tribute build for your brother. I’m sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age.

Thanks, Stik. Buzz received his BS from ASU. I had hoped to have decals for Luke (LF) Field but settled for the kit decals: 33 FTW, Eglin AFB.

I use to not care for them but I quite like them now. They grow on you and stelth is the future of fighter design. Look up 6th gen fighters if you want something Sci-Fi.
