Nice work Robert! That's a great scheme you chose - and very well executed. Congrats. I think you worked through the mask issues on the star very well.  I'm also torn sometimes on the pilot, but I think it adds some character to the model and gives it a sense of scale.

Looks great! I'll second Patrick, the pilot's face is very well done. I have nothing against pilot figures, they bring life to the model. Everybody does seatbelts, go with the pilot figure.

Joe

Thanks Joe. I used Tamiya flesh mixed with alittle red and then a faded flesh for the highlights

Hi, Robert - That is a really exceptional job you made of it, for one thing the pilots face is very well done, as is the rest of him. The build and finish of the 109 is super neat and looks great.

Thanks for the post and photos, I enjoyed seeing it.

Patrick

Thank you Patrick!

This Is my attempt at Walther Dahl's yellow 6.  He had 128 aerial victories in 678 missions. I was unable to find much info. on this plane other than the pic presented and the pic on the montex supermask that I used for the markings. The shooting star mask did not adapt well to all the curved surfaces of the model. The "negative" image of the mask worked the best but it also popped up.  I kept damaging it and I got the yellow way too thick.  I used AK paints for the build and used a thin mixture of RLM 75 to fade the shooting star.  I wanted to make this one the convertable version with the engine cowling but the cental spire engine support was warped and I couldn't get it straightened.  That left a 2mm gap on one side and an overlap on the other so I just cemented it closed.  I know pilot figures are frowned upon but I do enjoy painting them and I hope I have improved somewhat.  I did not paint the figure as per the instructions. I used the colors that Tamiya did when they unveiled the kit.  Overall it was a good kit Thanks for looking
