Hello friends. It’s 1985, Tears for Fears is one the radio, Back to the Future is the number one movie, and Parachute pants are all the rage. I was just a lad back then but I still tried my hardest to make my models look as good as what was on the box, usually with disastrous results! So for this beautiful new tool Airfix kit, I’m going back to basics and only using what’s supplied in the box and some of the basic tools I had as a kid. As though I bought it with my pocket money from the local Sears or Woolworths. I’ve been in a personal and modeling funk lately so I’m hoping this fun side project breaks me out!

At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
So I've given the parts a good washing with dish soap and water since I will not be using any primer. What you see in the first picture is all I will be using to make this bird. Everything will be hand-painted without benefit of an airbrush, post shading, pre shading, chipping, or any other weathering techniques. I'm just going to build it using the same materials and techniques I would've used as a kid.

Here is a sample of supplies I will not be using!
Well, this should be interesting. You're using far more than I had as a kid to build it. I had the testers square bottle paints, their brushes and if I was real lucky, a rattle can. I think you will make this look good.

Reeling back the days always up for a bit of nostalgia. Will sit back and join in with the fun and memories. Nice idea.

Are you going to use tube glue? LOL

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

tempestjohnnyThis is going to be interesting. Always wondered if those paints that come in the starter packs were any good?

Ah, the Testers tube glue. Kinda like a big magic marker, there just anything that smells that way. Breath deep and enjoy the visions.
