Thanks all.

So it sounds like my approach will be to paint the flooring in wood, then cover in a flat black (I like Tamiya's Nato Black for interiors) and then wear off in high traffic areas.

Wood was often used for the floors of military aircraft back then.  One reason woiuld be that it helped stretch the use of aluminum which was a high priority war material.

Wood is correct for the most part. A lot of them had the flat anti skid tape, like on a skate board. Chromate is never correct for floors, not even for bulkheads and interior of the skin. Use sentimental journey as a reference for a modern restoration. Otherwise google image for a wartime B-17. Interior green/chromate yellow or green nose to tail is not correct for war time B-17's.

B-17 Wooden Wondering?

Looking for some clear advice here.  I'm doing resarch and planning to start the new HK 1/48 B-17G in the coming weeks.  I keep reading conflicting info about how to do the wooden floorboards.  Some of what I read say they were treated with a non-slip black coating which makes perfect sense to me but isn't as showy, but others show it bare wood and still others show it chromate.

The particular Fortress I'm building will be "Mount 'N Ride".
