Tamiya P-38 decal help needed
Posted by cwalker3 on Friday, June 5, 2020 7:16 AM

So I finally get to the decaling stage of my P-38. I am modeling the Miss Virginia bird, number 147. I get about 1/4 of the way into the process and dump a bottle of Micro-Sol onto the decal sheet. Most of what was lost were stencils. But the "Miss Virginia" and "147" decals were both lost.

I really don't want to strip off what I've put on, so if anyone here has built the kit and doesn't need those decals, I'd be willing trade something for them.

Thanks for looking.

Bummer man but hey for future reference to prevent spills, I put a piece of plumbing insulation around my micro sol and set bottles and haven't had a spill since. Had more than one spill before I did that.

I cut two holes in a piece of foam and set both bottles (Sol and Set) in it. Seems pretty stable.

Yes, indeed, there are lots of kind folks here.  A few years ago, someone sent me an important replacement decal for a very expensive model. I am always looking for a way to return the favor when I can.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

As an aside, the aircraft was written off after a wheels up landing a week after the Yamamoto flight.  Was only in theatre for 3 months or so.

Glad you found the replacements.  Great bunch of people here.

I glue the bottom(s) of mine to a pickle or similar jar lid with super glue.  Works great and problem solved.....
