Tanker-Builder

Hi Frank!

Now I gotta say I was not an admirer of the "Razorback" Mustang. I think you changed my mind. Nice work there!

Well, Tank-Builder, I've liked the early Mustang since I saw my first one back in the 1970's when Pete Regina restored one as Don Gentile's "Shangri La." I think I built the Monogram kit back then too. If you decide to build a "B/C" model, try Tamiya's before you try to tackle the Accurate Miniatures "A" model. When they are done they look so sleek.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

bvallot

Nicely done Frank! =] Any other pictures of the cockpit or camera? I did an F-6D a while back and want to do an -B variant as a photo recon just because of the camera placement on the -B. lol Actually want one of each...a recon and a regular B.

Did the kit come with a camera part?

Yes, bvallot, everything you need to build this version is in the kit. This entire build is OOB except for the decals. For the canopy mask, get the Eduard mask for the P-51B: EX034 or XF150.

Just finished this airplane this morning. Been working on it off and on since early May but now the airplane is finally on the shelf. It's built mostly OOB except for the decals. I bought the kit at a show a while back. It came in a freezer bag with a coffee stained instruction booklet and no decals so the markings are sourced from the scrap box. The build was pretty straight forward, nothing really unusal to report. I do like the idea of an early Allison engine Mustang with invasion stripes and a Malcolm hood. The airplane represents a Mustang of the 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Group around D-Day. The overall camouflage is Model Master O.D. and Neutral Grey enamel. The white is Tamiya Flat White and the black is Tamiya NATO Black. I brushed on some different colors of pastel dust to show some wear and exhaust staining. All in all I think the build came pretty nice. Comments and critique are always welcome.
