Another beautiful build you got there LD. The weathering on the underside is absolutely stunning to my eye. Do you get that thru a wash or pre/post shading?

Thanks Steve.  Actually all of the above.

Fantastic. Really wish I could get the weathering down like yours. The look is just right

Thanks Johnny, it's the AK Interactive panel liners and streaking fluids. Wondeful stuff.

Going with done on this bad boy.  To recap, it's in the JG 26 markings of 31 kill ace Gustav Mickey Sprick.  Sorry this thread didn't get much love but there wasn't much to say construction-wise.  Like their P-51, this is the best Fredrick/Gustav in this scale (sorry Tamiya).  That's both in ease of construction and detail.  I had no issues whatsoever.  I guess if I had to find a gripe or two, it's that you have install the exhausts from inside before closing the fuselage.  I ended up taping them off and painting them.  Pretty painless actually. Also, as with most of their kits, the "in scale" effect translates to fragile and or easily lost.  I managed to lose one of the aileron balances which were tiny to begin with.  I'll fabricate a new one evenually.   I built it pretty much out of the box and used AK Interactive paints and oil washes.  I think AK nail the RLM 74/75 pretty well.  .

I'll be diving into their new tool Fw 190 A-6 soon.

You’re off to a fine start. Those Eduard 109s are beautiful kits.

Beautiful work as always.  Was this structural failure an anomoly?

Thanks. Not sure, it never said. I believe Marseille died in a similar manner with his new G model. May have been an early manufacturing quirk.

Marseille died when the cockpit on his G filled with smoke for unknown reasons. He attempted to bail out, but struck the tail plane upon exit and was unable to open his parachute.

Thanks Stik, ahhh...perhaps I'm thinking of another pilot.

Greg

I'm getting a kick out of watching you be excited over the Eduard kits.

Stay enthused, it'll keep you young. Smile And I like their kits, too. Heck, I even like their instruction sheets. Stick out tongue

Indeed, I'll be starting their FW190 A-6 shortly as well.

1/48 Eduard Bf 109 F-2 JG 26 "Mickey Sprick" (Finished)

I can't quite get out of the Luftwaffe mode, so after Eduard's Emil, I figured I'd give their "Freddie" a whirl.  Coincidentally I have their new FW190 A-6 on it's way to my porch and will hit the bench soon too.  So many cool schemes.....I should seek help. Perhaps I'm really starting to like these Eduard kits.

I like to do the lesser known aces sometimes, aside from the usual Galland, Hartmann, Barkhorn machines.  So I'll be doing another yellow noser, this time "Black 13", a JG26 machine flown by Gustav "Mickey" Sprick in June of 1941. Sprick had 31 confirmed kills, all on the Western front. On June 28th 1941, during combat with Spitfires, he was KIA when his wing came off while attempting a Split S manuever.

I built their G-2 not too long ago and I remember it being quite painless.  I believe this is essential the same plane aside from some small details, but I'm no expert.  I started with the pit.  Like most of their Profipack kits, they are a nice mix of PE and plastic detail and need nothing.  I gave it "the business" in RLM 66 I mixed with XF-24 dark Grey and some black.

The fuel line (yellow pipe) is a separate done in clear, so you can tape off the clear section and paint the rest.  What a nice touch.  It's the little things.....

I should be closing it up soon.
