Pretty kitty, PJ!

As far as paints go, have you tried any of the MRP stuff?  Full, rock-hard cure in less than an hour, and its tough as nails.

Thanks Eagle. Yes it's excellent paint but like Tamiya is an acrylic lacquer that bonds great to bare plastic unlike the water based paints like Mission Models. Still a great paint that sprays beautifully and levels out great, just has a not so strong bond to bare plastic.

One thing I forgot to mention, Mission Model paint over bare plastic will scratch VERY easily so use a good primer first.

The Tomcat is completed and now comes parting from it since I have to pack it and ship it to its new owner. This is a very detail simplified kit but still looks fantastic. The best detail I find in the cockpit and well detailed instrument panels and consoles. Some pe mirrors were added along with scrap pe pieces for the canopy locking lugs. The weapons are not mounted and will be securely packed and attached by the owner.

Hi;

      I had the same thought as I built both that and the F-15 " Strike Eagle" for the Wal -Mart Store I used to work in.  On display from the ceiling, Noses pointed toward the models of course! I thought Revell had finally gotten with the program!

Got a couple of the decals on tonight

The missiles were hand striped and stencils applied

Gears got an oil wash to pop details. The landing light was drilled out. Silver foil was used for the reflector and a metal pin head

for the bulb then epoxy was poured for the lens.

Thanks guys. Did some work on the seats. Trying to stay OOB much as possible so no extra detailing on the seats since the molded ones are ok. Did some dry rushing to pop things and sliced some thin masking tape pieces to mask the face curtain handles and sprayed yellow paint. The larger scale makes this detail easier to do.

They look very good in the pit

I can’t get over how well the molded instruments were done by Revell yet having a very low price tag compared to the Tamiya one.

The entire airframe is finally painted in gloss gull gray. The Mission Model paint went on kind of orange peeled but self levels to a smooth even finish. Was very pleased how it performed and can be polished with an old soft cotton t shirt for even smoother finish.

I remember building this kit in the early 80's for a captain friend of mine while stationed in what was then West Germany. I do not know how or if he ever got it home in one piece, but it was a large build.

You are doing great things with the Revell kit.

That plane gets heavier by the minute. I wonder what it's going to weigh when it's done? But looking real good.

Thanks gents. Sprayed most of the top and used about 1/4 bottle of the Mission Model paint. It covers well and love how it self levels. Still working on the paint.
