I like that idea for the base.

OK, Ok I promise this is the last pic. I just wanted a semblance of an F-105 in flight pic.

Well thank you Brandon, ChemTeacher, Jeaton & modelcrazy. I'm adding pics of the makeshift stand; which I decided to airbrush in camo scheme. I was hoping to put aerial jungle photos but my printer decided to run out of ink. I hope to post some "in-flight" pics of this bird soon. Enjoy.

Never been a Thud fan but you really did a good job on it.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I remember this kit when I was a kid. Wonderful job on such an iconic aircraft. Congrats on a great build.

Looks like a nice clean build but, yeah, you need a better backdrop and lighting.

I really like the 105, it's a cool looking jet. You did a great job on this and it looks awesome. Nice work.

Well this plane is done. I'm not thrilled with the makeshift stand since the one I ordered couldn't handle the weight of the plane eventhough it was made for a 1/48 scale aircraft. I was able to put on the remaining ordnance under the fuselage and I'm going to tweak the stand. I didn't care for the lighting but for now here are some pics.

Well I finally did the pilot and he found his way into the cockpit and I added the external fuel pods and bombs on the outer pylons. I'm waiting on an aircraft stand before I add the the bombs on the fuselage pylon. Once that is done I can declare this bird done.

Very nicely done, the decal placement, style, as well as your technique is superb!

Well I am happy to say that I received my decals ahead of schedule. Instead of using GlossCote Lacquer to put the decals on I used Future Acrylic. The decals went on nicely but I figure I'll stick with the GlossCote for my next project if decals are involved. I feel like I went a little overboard with the decals on the left side of the aircraft. But if I have to, I'll remove any that don't need to be applied. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

These 105's are super cool. Too bad the actual plane doesn't live up to its looks. Apparently they were quite unstable and tricky to fly and worse to land. They did not have a good rep with the pilots.

That's going to be a nice looking model when finshed.

Well here is the preliminary camo scheme, but now I'm in a holding pattern as the decals from the kit just broke apart when I started to apply them, so I have to wait for the AM decals I ordered.

I first heard this joke in the 105 era, though it may have been created earier.  "If the Air Force had a runway that completely encircled the world, Republic would design an aircraft that would take every foot of it to take off."

I cleaned up the cockpit, primed the fuselage, wings and other parts and cemented the cockpit to it. Although its a 1/48 scale aircraft I'm planning on making this kit in flight mode, fully armed and ready to bear.

I just started this bird yesterday. It looks like a nice build and its going to be an OOB build except for possible AM pilots.
