The build is now complete with no major issues - just some minor cleanup here and there.
For the engine, I painted per the Tamiya callouts, applied a wash and drybrushed a bit.
MRP paints were used for the main colors -- insignia white for the underside, intermediate blue for the sides and sea blue for the tops of the wings and fuselage.

Interestingly, the Tamiya profile and most others I found show a relatively straight demarcation between the dark and light blue on the fuselage. The one photo I found of the plane online clearly shows a more jagged edge, which is what I tried to capture.
The photos don't show it clearly, but there's quite a bit of shading and fading on various panels across the sea and intermediate blue sections.
Although I've tried them before on other builds, I'm really happy with the MRP paints. The colors seem spot on, they spray wonderfully, and they dry quickly to a smooth, semi-gloss finish. I'm going to try to apply the decals without a gloss coat and see what happens. Fingers crossed.
