No problem. Throwdown a gloss acrylic coat, then you can put down the AK washes. Wipe them off with a paper towel. I use either MiG or AK paneliners. They are enamel based. I usually finish it off with a streaking effect with a flat brush

Much appreciated, Joe. Bow Down

i used half X-22 and half Mr. Leveling Thinner as my gloss coat.

Those oil washes make all the difference to my eye.

I must have missed something. I was thinking you had started using AK enamal washes. I'm looking for alternatives to Flory clay, so if you could straighten me out I'd appreciate it, and sorry if I missed the answer in a thread.

If you're using oil and making yourself, if you could provide more details I'd really appreciate it. I've never cared for my home made oil wash results.

Details pop, and just the right amount in scale, IMO.

If I could make an Eduard 190 look this good, I'd not be able to stop buildlng them either!

Thanks Greg

1/48 Eduard Bf 109 G-4 JG 53 "Franz Schiess" (Finished)
Posted by lawdog114 on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 4:33 AM

I can't seem to get enough of these wonderful Eduard Bf 109s. In my opinion they are the best in this scale, perhaps any scale. This time I did Franz Schiess' G-4 of JG 53 from Italy in May of 1943.  Schiess was a 67 kill ace and accumulated an impressive P-38 tally, having downed 16 of them.  Since I've done several of these, at the risk of redundancy, I will forego the work in progress pictures.  I was given a picture of Schiess' "Black 1" and was essentially told to replicate it.  I did my best.  Here's the result completely out of the box.
