This was my first attempt at a NMF so was glad it went ok!

As for being a ballsy pilot I hoped to capture that cowboy pilot persona, maybe not realistic or sensible but hollywood all the way...

Superb diorama, and IMO, the real challenge was building it "in flight" !

Can you share your experience building this Eduard in flight ? I intend to build mine in this configuration and, from a first examination, the kit doesn't seem designed for it at all (unlike the tamiya). : Flaps are molded dropped and the landing gear bay doors don't seem to adjust very well. Also, I have some doubts about the fit flaps/air intake.

Thank you for your feedback as I'm wondering if it worthes the risk to ruin mine trying to do so ;-)

You're absolutely right, the dropped flaps were a pita. But once you get your head around it the fix is simple enough.

On the prototype the flaps sit hard up under where the wing meets the fusealge but makes for a big drop on the model and looks out of place. Also the flaps are too long front to back.

First, sand the front edge of the flap down( where it meets the wing) so it does not protrude past the rear wing edge. Takes only a few seconds rubbing the flap on some coarse sandpaper on a flat surface.

Second, once the front to rear flap length is achieved you hold it under the overlap on the wing and run a blade along the edge trimming the excess so the flap can now be moved up level with the wing.

Once you hold everything in place you will understand what I mean if it is not clear here. 

The landing gear bays you wont need to add all the bracing and detail, just fit the box inside the wings and center brace. The landing gear bay doors just glue in place and fit well. The rear landing gear doors are moulded to the body and I trimmed these off and glued a piece of plastic in place and gave a light fill.
