patrick206 Mighty fine job, Ernie. The building quality and finishing are first rate, a very realistic replica. I hope to see it in the "Gallery" soon, it belongs there to be seen by many. Thanks for the posts and photos. Patrick

Thanks Patrick for your positive input. Never thought to submit it but what the heck, why not?
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
keavdog Fantastic! Museum piece right there. Well done. I too am a big fan of Flory - feels almost like cheating :)

Thanks. I used my Badger Sotar to get extra tight feathering lines.
Thanks John. I noticed them to be a tad darker too so I took a few with better lighting.
Well done, PJ, though I wish the pictures were a little lighter. But I've seen the nice detail in your earlier posts so I know it's there.

It's been a while since posting an update but things are finally moving again.
I finally got my garage back and shot clear flat to kill the gloss and to seal things up. I did run into a small issue regarding the drop tank which interferes with having the bottom engine panel open so I opted for the open panel vs having the drop tank on. It's a shame to cover up the engine details. I'm saving that tank for another Kurfürst waiting to be built in my stash.
I fabricated the canopy hold open wire and added the pe details.
My Kurfürst is almost completed.
Last night I touched up and weathered the engine area a tad more.
added the antennas, pitot and tail wheel
and attached the slats slightly extended
and added some minor foot traffic wear on the port wing and touched up previous chips.
.
A short weathering update. Broke out the oil paints and started to blend in stains and streaks.
Blended the exhaust stains on the fuselage sides
More streaks and grime.
ThuntbossAs far as I'm concerned, you 100% nailed this thing. Looks like you could fuel/arm her, crank her up n take off on a sortie. Well done!
Thanks for stopping by.

I really like the Flory washes. They are very easy to apply and remove. Let it dry then use a moistened Qtip on hard to reach areas and a damp piece of paper towel to remove excess wash on larger areas wiping in the direction of the airflow creating subtle light streaks as you go.
Thanks John. Hey we are never too old to learn something new.
Nice techniques, hope I learn something!
This is where I'm at so far. Used Flory dark grime wash to darken the recessed details to start the weathering process.
The engine needs some touch ups
The cowl door interior and other parts were painted RLM02 and given an oil paint wash to grime up the areas. More weathering to follow.
I have just about all the decals applied on my Kurfürst, lots of tiny ones. Once all the decals are on, a Flory wash will be applied to pop the recessed details and begin the weathering stage. I will have some pictures up soon.
fox Very nice job PJ! Jim Stay Safe.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
wpwar11 Its been mentioned already but I had to agree with the other comments. The spinner is amazing. I have this kit in the stash and I'm dreading this step. I may use the Eduard mask and paint. There's no way mine will look as great as your effort. The entire build is great.

Thanks for stopping by. Maybe it would have been easier if Trumpeter had included the spiral in their decal sheet. I used a spare one I had from I believe Eagle Cals and it almost fit perfectly. You mentioned having this one in your stash so be ware the pit is actually for a G6 or G10. The right side panel is incorrect for the Kurfürst so some modification will improve the looks otherwise the kit is pretty good.
Hoss WA Looking great PJ! excellent prop and spinner. Super mottling and details.
