Bish

I think its been nearly a month since my last update, but i'm finally able to get some updates posted. The Typhoon got a Flry wash, i didn't want to get it to grubby, just in use.

I added some exhaust stainign around the APU exhaust before the mat coat. All the remaining parts were then fitted.

The Litening pod on the centre station is Eduard resin. The GBU's from one of Hasegawa's weapons sets. The rest from the kit. Its nice to see Hase adding ordanance to its kits.

So the Typhoon is all but done. I just have to paint and add the FOD covers for the intakes and add some RBF tags then i can add it to the base. I still have some ground equipment to finish and figures to sort out and paint.

A good way to end the year. That's a deadly assortment of accessories she's wearing!

Time to add the final pics of the Typhoon. Once on the base, i added some Flightpath wheel chocks and a GPU and the ladder is from DreamModel. As you can see, i have no figures. I do have a pilot that works for this but no ground crew. Hopefully i'll be able to find somthing and add them soon.

Thanks for looking.

The German aircraft seem to be a bit darker than the British ones. I don't know the current German colours or even if they still use RAL colours. There are a few older discussions on Britmodeller about Typhoon colours but niot sure if they mentioned German ones.

For my Eurojet. I completed it two years ago but now thinking about it (I'm not home right now) I believe I did it in Luftwaffe markings. I was the two seat version.

Thanks Steve. Camoflage grey is the current colour for the RAF's typhoons and Xtracolor does most if not all of the main colours used since WW2 many of which were in use for long after. Which aircraft do you need it for.

Cracking build so far mate. Does Xtracolor have modern RAF grey? I had to get a bottle of Flint Grey to match it.

Taken a while to get this painted and decals on, mainly because of all the work on the victor, but i have finally got there. I used Xtracolor Camoflage grey and then added some medium sea grey for the nose, top of the tail and the leading adges to the tail and forward stabilizer's.

I know the exhausts should be open when its on the ground, but the only place that had the open ones was a site in Germany and they wanted £20 just for postage. these cost less than 20 with postage from Poland. I don't normally skimp when i need something for a kit but that was just to much.

And then the decals went on. The left side serial broke up completly. I was able to use the first 3 digits from the serial for the other marking option, but i had no numbers in the right size for the rest so i painted on the 2 and 1.

Next i'll give it a gloss coat to seal the decals before some light weathering. In the meantime i can get the decals on the Victor.

Ye, i removed the bulhead just behind the intakes as i had a feeling that was pulling the siders in a touch. I fitted it without gluing along the sides and it was better, and once the engines were in, it reduced the gap even more.

No, the meteors are included in the kit but are one of the weapons it comes with that was not cleared for use on the type when the kit was made. They were first carried in 2018. But they are looking to intergrate it to the F-35, i think thats the only other British aircraft i could use them on.

It looks like your wing seams went well.

So no Meteors

Thanks guys.

I had the weapons load out sorted a while ago. I have not gone with what the kit recomends as i am portraying the aircraft during the actions over Libya in 2011. I am useing the drops tanks and AAM from the kit, pluis 4 GBU-16's from one of the Hasegawa weapons sets and a Litening pob from Eduard. They have now all be primed and most of it is the same colour as the aircraft, just got to work out what to paint the GBU's in, i think they should be the same OD that US weapons are in but i just want to check.

Love it so far, Bish!

I think the Typhoon is probably the sleekest of all the 'lawn dart'-looking a/c out there. Almost a 'Star Wars' vibe to it.

The engine arrived over a week ago but i was slwed down a bit by the Victor. But its now in and everything is together, masked and ready for primer.

Mopar Madness

I've got the Airfix Typhoon.  Probably best being tossed in the bin and replacing it with one of these!

I believe that kit does date back to 1990. It would not surprise if that was on their list of old kits to new tool. But the Hase one is said to be the best out there in 72nd.

Bish

Thanks steve. I have just checked and no, they are not the same kits. But dry fitting does show the wing to fuselage leaves a nasty gap.

If I recall, I used stretched sprue to fill it. Almost lost my desire to build it over those seams but I'm glad I completed it Big Smile

Ditto on the nice job

It looks similar to the Revell kit I did. Came wth some nice stores as well but the upper wing join was quite the bugger. I hope the Hase is a little better. If I remember correctly my cans weren't the best either. They may be from the same lineage.

It is a handsome bird though

Not much to report on the Typhoon. After some dithering, i decided i did like the Hasegawa exhausts, detail is not very good. So i have ordered some Res Kit ones from Poland which are on their way. So i got as much done as i could and have been focuseing on the Victor.

I got the tail on the fuselage and a few small bits added.

And i got the main undercarrage bays painted.

I've since added the nose and the pod on the other end of the wings. But for now its awaiting its engine, than it can all go together.
