Thanks Tojo, yea it is a really well engineered kit...so far. I for one am glad that the tolerances are so tight as putty usually gives me fits.

Sorry these pix aren't of the primered stuff, those will happen before color coats. Thanks for looking and please stay tuned.

As said, with much head banging we finally got some more images to post.

the fit is FANTASTIC... so far. what you see id dry fit for clearance and I am happy. The white on the gear doors is Tamiya putty on the original kit part. I have some small issues with the putty cracking and some shrinkage, no cold weather jokes please:), so before final paint I need to address them. Thanks for looking in and keeping me motivated to continue to post pix.....practice practice practice.

ALso since I like to be honest and precise, Joe is retire Air Force not Army, unimportant to anybody but me but I do not like posting non factual information. More to come later.

This is for me? Thanks!  One of the few jets I'd build. I look forward to yours.

Kind of a bump so I can find it. Shot Ammo by Mig One Shot White primer after masking the areas I want to paint metallic, de-icer boots, leading edges..., dry fit gear doors and trunks all goo so far. A few tweaks that will show when I post pix, should be after I figure out how stable my job is.

Silence is next to godliness, but flatulence happens to the rest of us.  just not like The Spleen from Mystery Men, hopefully!

Anyway, let out a last one then zip up your G-suit Perry.  And head off to the highway to the Danger Zone!

Thats a good aircraft. I will be watching. I am planning to do a F-14D as that was what I worked on for a couple years. Cant wait to see how it comes out.

First attempt at a Work In Progress? I don't get it. Surely you've built a kit before? At any rate, it has to be easier and more fun than the monogram kit Cool

Should be a fun project!  What's the scale?

Who keeps stepping on wings?  Someone won't stay off the wings and now I have to apply all these tiny "NO STEP" decals.

My first WIP, F-14 for Joe
Posted by armornut on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 8:41 PM

This is my first attemp ta a WIP so bare with me, I will improve with practice.    I'm building this F-14 for a fellow veteran who about 7 years ago set me on the path to where I am today. His favorite aircraft, though an Army vet, is the F-14...particularly VF-84 Jolly Rogers from the Nimitz. He was exposed to them by the movie : The Final Countdown. I will try to narrate more as I progress.

the images are showing the right hand intake trunk dry fit to the fuselage, as per Tamiya the fit is amazing. I'm closing the gear doors to pose the bird in flight. I also glued the nose bay together in hopes of bolstering the area for the nose gear doors however some small engineering may be required.

    More to follow soon.Cool
