This was built for the Between the Wars GB here. Many tiny and fragile parts but if you survive that you get a pretty nice replica. Older kit and the decals gave me fits but in the end, with the help of a second kit I got there.

Beautiful built. I love the AM kits, they had a bunch of kits in that area. By the way, most people will need to click on the pic placeholder to see those pics. The site you are hosting the pics on doesn't support https, so lots of browsers will start blocking it by default. See if you can get a ssl certificate from your hosting provider. They usually will give you one free or at nominal annual fee.

I think I will start putting my current builds on the new website because it will take awhile to get all of my current website changed over. Years, most likely! The owner of the original host doesn't support SSL certificates.

An excellent build there, John. I have only one quibble. Are those bombs supposed to be USN practice bombs? If so, they should be painted black according to OP-1664, volume 2, page 439. Or OP-878, page 16.

Thanks, Rich, that's a useful document. I followedAccurate Miniature's color call out for practice bombs, which can sometimes be a foolish thing to do, but I also found this photo. I wonder if the regulations changed at some point?
Until the Army/Navy Standardization Board of 1941, USN had their bombs, and the USA had their bombs, never really the twain shall meet. Then the USA became the bomb designers for most of the USN's bombs. From 1923 the USN's practice bombs were black. In 1930, the USA's were white which changed sometime before 1942 to blue. Hey John, that's a nice lookin' build! I like the colors. Speaking of colors, could you tell me what you used for the silver lacquer? I have a few builds (this same kit included) in the pipeline that require a silver lacquer paint scheme, and yours looks smart.
Another question, if I may. Could you tell me what you used for your antenna wires? Looks very convincing.

Omar, the aluminum color was Alclad, a first layer of white aluminum followed by ALC 101 auminum in light coats. The antenna wire is EZ Line. My preference is USCHI Fine, but for some reason my CA would not adhere to it. I suggest you look closely at the decals in your kit, I have 3 AM SBD-1 kits and none of them aged well. Yellow Wings makes replacements.
