TB, I built the boxed version of the Testors release a bunch of years ago, and it builds up OK. Even that horrid canopy was fairly clear after a douse in Future.

What I did do, canopy-wise, was to file away most of the 'slab' armor glass molded into the canopy -- in the real thing, it was mounted on the cockpit coaming -- then paint the leftover edge dark grey like the armor glass's frame, with a new clear piece set inside for the glass itself. At a quick glance, it doesn't look horrid.

Cheers

Greg

Hey Jeaton 01;

     Thanks, I thought it was old, but that old? Wow! It is a fun little build though! The external stuff is more than I ever ran across in this bird though. It's got some kind of flaps you can leave open or closed up, that I've never seen on a kit of this before!

Hey, man, we're talking 1960 here, what do you expect!Happy Birthday #  64 for this kit.  But since it was originally done by Hawk it probably is 1/48.  Just have fun with it.

Hmmm:

      Two Bucks? Well let's what my money bought Very neat moldings for sure.There are only three parts missing,yay! Minor stuff at that .I am at the point of putting the wings on it! I don't know about al of you plane builders out there.Ever since I built my first plastic plane  so many years ago i always put the top and Bottom together(If their not solid wings) then trim them and Glue them to the Fuselage halves.

      Why do I do this? back in the day I found out if I did that to my REVELL Airliners and Bombers I always got that durned dihedral correct! So I have just always done it that way. Oh Goody! Test fit of the halves shows a possibility of minimal putty use! Buying kits like this usually result in looking for clear parts.NOPE! They are there alright and the little triangular windows nehind the cockpit on each side drop in with an absolute tight and comfy fit.

       I don't know who's molds Testors used but in real life that canopy would probably be a foot and a half thick material. My gosh it's thick. I have not, if I remember correctly, ever seen a canopy in this scale this thick! I believe the kit is 1/48. I am basing it on the windspan. It says nothing about scale on the inst.and I really don't care as I just like the little dude! No Decals either,No problem I have a drawer full of NAZI decals.(I never used them because I didn't want to offend.)I got thrown out of a Show/Contest for Swastika's on the Bismark! (Small local event in the meeting hall next to a Synagogue it turns out!)
