Lublin R-XIII Reference

About steering wheels and sticks - I found in one of my books, that steering wheel was mounted only in R-XIII bis/hydro (only 3 planes were built - Nr 701, 702, 703), and in hydro version of R-XIII D. Aleksander

As I know - in prototype yes (the upper left photo), but in serial A/C there were control sticks. Aleksander

All I can say is THANKS! They will sure help alot. I have one question, though. In the pilot's cockpit, is that a wheel I see instead of a control stick?

Hi blackwolf - the colour for hydro version (R-XIII ter) is FS 34410 (except silver front). Aleksander. Today I've made some scans for you and will try to send them - if I will not succeed, I will try later on !

Blackwolfcd - Yes, you will find this on the IPMS Stockholm site as follows:

Go into Color Charts under Helpdesk. Then-
Urban Fredriksson's Color Reference Charts - Part I. Then-
Scan down to Authentic Color by Country. Then-
Colors of the Polish Air Force between 1919 and 1939.

You might want to print all of these color charts. I did, and now keep them in a 3-ring binder along with the IPMS Color Cross-Reference Guide. Everything is right there without having to go on-line.

Ah, thanks too much! I'm mainly looking for photos of the cockpit and the gunner/observer's position. Any other detail photos such as the engine and landing gear would be helpful, as well.

Also, any good overall photos of the wheeled aircraft in camouflage would be helpful. That's the variant I'd like to start with.

These fine folks here have given me some great info on the colors and such, but I never can get enough reference, especially photos.

Thanks alot for the color info. Is this on the IPMS Stockholm site? I'll have to go back and look a little more closely. They always seem to have alotta NEAT stuff there.

I didn't know that Part had some PE for this one. I shall go hunting soon!

And yes, of course, I'll post some photos. I hope to have this one done in a decent amount of time. I'm gonna take it easy and not go as nuts as I am sometimes apt to do.

Could you specify what kind of references do you need ? As I know, there is no special monography about that (quite interesting) plane, but I have few books with pictures and drawings - I can copy some of them to you ! Aleksander

Not a problem after all the info you have passed on to me. I am sorry about the size of the attachments, I didn't think they were that big. All the reference I have come across call for all silver on the float plane. Blackwolfscd did you get my email?

Here is what IPMS Stockholm lists as the R-XIII colors:

Light Khaki - Upper surfaces of fighter and reconnaissance aircraft. Also present
in Lublin R-XIII camouflage. FS30118.
Light Olive - Upper camouflage of R-XIII. FS34151.
Dark Green - Upper camouflage of R-XIII. FS34097.
Ochre - Upper camouflage of R-XIII. FS33245.
Light Blue - Lower surfaces of R-XIII. FS35550.
Silver - Lower surfaces of reconnaissance aircraft (even some R-XIII) and cockpit
interiors.

Hope this will do the trick.

I too have this kit and would be interested in any references. I intend to build the float plane version. I do have a PE set by Part. I have managed to determine that the interior was silver
