Hey nand,
Its kinda scary but I do remember
.
I would use a darkish gray(neutral gray) as a primer. Not only does the primer help you to find flaws like seams, pin marks and the like, it also puts a coating over the plastic which will help the paint stick better to the model itself.
When it comes to how many coats to apply, thats up to you my friend?? I would make sure the whole enter a/c has a good coat before carrying out the final painting. Just remember make sure you do this in light coats!!
I would use Testers buffable silver rather than Tamiyas silver. The buffable paint looks great when applied and you can use a soft cloth to tone the silver(buffing the paint) to get different tones on the various panels. Testers buffable also has a sealer that you must apply after the paint has dried. Basically this seals the paint so if you go to touch, the paint wont come off(it sounds worse than it really is
).
So which scheme are you going to dress her up in nandman??
Heres a pic of a P-47D Razorback in the OD and NG scheme.
And heres a pic of a natrual metal finished Jug.
