I pulled out the F-111F flight manual and found out the following.  Wing stations 3, 4, 5, &, 6 when carrying MK-81 or MK-82 HDGP or LDGP bombs all six stations on the BRU can be loaded.  When loading only two BRU's, they were loaded on station 3 & 6,  With MK-117, MK-83 & MK-84 on station 4 and 5, they used the slant four load configuration.  Stations 3 & 6 could carry six MK-117, Mk-83 or MK-84 bombs.  The only time the wing sweep was limited was when stations 1, 2, 7, &, 8 was loaded.  The wings were limited to 23 degrees wing sweep.  When stations  3, 4, 5, &, 6 was loaded with MK-117, MK-83 or MK-84 bombs the wing sweep was also limited and full sweep could not be used.

The BRU's used on the F-111 was different than the MER's used by other aircraft.  I have yet to see any model maker include BRU's in their kits.  Even the ones used on the F-15E are different than the ones used on the F-111.  With some modification they can be used though.

Below are the only shots of the BRU I can find.  I can't find a good close up view of them.

Help needed with F-111 Bomb rack question. Maybe Berny can Help?

I'm building an F-111 at the moment and need to decide what stations to use.

It'll be loaded with MK-82 High Drag bombs, I've heard that these are caried in a slant 4 when carried on the inboard pylons and the full six are carried when on the next outboard pylon.

If you weren't to carry more than 12, would you load the outboard pylons only as this doesn't hinder the range of wing sweep? Or do they not use the full sweep position when loaded with these bombs?

Does anyone have any photo's of BRU's loaded with MK-82 or similar as I need to find how the bombs were mounted, I think my resin ones are lacking some detail.

Are the Bomb racks carried by the A-6/A-7 the same as the F-111?

This is a present for my Dad who flew them so it has to be right.

Any help will be much apreciated!

Thanks.
