B-24D Ploesti Raider Desert Sand "Pink" color mix?

If you guys solve this I will bow!! It's a female dog. No pilot I've ever talked to had the slightest (correct) idea of what the colors of the a/c were. And most all WWII photos are B/W or so faded color that you cannot know.

Restoration ruins everything. Can you imagine on "Antiques Roadshow"; this B-24 that you brought in could have been worth 10 Million dollars, but since you repainted it it will go for at most $ 500,000?

You'd think that if an access panel or two had the fasteners drilled out, and a sample was taken around the overlapped edge...

I know that Polly S Paints has the correct color of the Desert Pink your asking about, and I think Polly Scale also has it too. Try the Testors website and see if they are still in production

There were actually many raids on Ploesti, with the first big one being the most famous.  There was actually an earlier raid, but it never made headlines and therefore never made the history books.  That earlier mission is what led the Germans to take Ploesti's defence seriously and made it into one of the most, if not the most heavily defended targets in Europe!  I just finished an excellent book called Ploesti: The Great Ground-Air Battle of 1 August 1943, Revised Edition by James Dugan and Carroll Stewart (I HIGHLY recommend it!!!! ).

The early raids were usually done by B-24s flying out of Libya and later Italy.  There were even missions done much later using P-38s because they had the range and could carry bombs, and it was felt that they might have a better chance at survival then the Ploesti Raiders of August 1, 1943......

I must have missed this back in June.  The decal sheet I have has an addendum sheet with the corrected numbers. 

I'm starting my B-24D next week!

I scored!  I ordered the some Ploesti Raider decals (limited run, only 300) from Meteor Productions and they still had some in stock!  They arrived on my doorstep yesterday afternoon!  Woo Hoo!!!!

 When I've seen it, she was inside. The photos I have are just a tiny bit lighter then that first photo as well.

Hey guys, based on a couple of PMs, it appears that the 2nd word in "Strawberry B**ch" is being changed by some sort of automated program, which obviously can't distinguish context.  In that light, it's not that big of a deal that the word was changed.

Anyway, I have received several pics and now have some to "aim" at while coming up with my mix.  Thanks guys.
