Tamiya 1/48 P-47 D WIP
Posted by sanderson_91 on Thursday, July 24, 2008 7:53 PM

I just wanted to share with eveyone my latest work in progress.  This is the Tamiya P-47 D Bubbletop in 1/48.  So far it's been a sweet little build.  I'm building this as Major Donovan Smith's Ole Cock III in a rare winter camo scheme.  Any comments are welcome.

Very cool scheme, I like it!  Your office looks great, and the engine is outstanding!  Looking forward to seeing this one come together. Thumbs Up [tup]

Great looking build so far...tons of detail in that office!!  Any aftermarket products used on the pit or is it right from the box?

I echo what everbody has said... I especially like your IP.. Don't you just love the instrument decal they provide??

I used it on mine and it looks really good... Anywho I am looking forward to the WIP's and the final build!!

Hey everyone, thanks for the great comments!

Mark983 - so far the cockpit is OOB except for the Eduard seat belts.  The wiring harness on the engine is a spare from the Verlinden R-2800 set.  I am going to use True Details wheels instead of the kit wheels and the Aero Master decals for Ole Cock III.  This is set 48-785 The Wolfpack part X.

JMart - this is Tamiya kit 61090 which has a Checkerboard Bubbletop P-47 on the box.

I won't have too much time to build this weekend but will try to get some new progress pictures out soon.  Thanks!

Thats a fantastic start there boss. The end result is going to be something else!!!!Cool [8D]Thumbs Up [tup]

I have one question if I may?

I just bought a 1/48 Revell P-47N and on the decal plan on both sides the P-47 it has nose art of two different pictures and writting. Is this right??? You must forgive me I haven't done an American aircraft in a very long time

Lenny,

I think that most US Aircraft had nose art primarily on the left side but some had it on both.  I think that it really depends on the specific aircraft that is depicted on the decals.  I wish that I could be more help than this.Sad [:(]
