Boeing Build

Thanks guys, For my purpose, I would be able to do the gunship gray. I don't plan on entering any contests, The only thing I would do is a local showing of it. That being said, I still like to strive for accuracy in all my builds and one never knows when a BUFF vet would show up and there are at least 2 Vietnam vets that I know of in our local modeling club.

 I'll think about it for a few days then decide what I'm going to do.

I would beg you to do not do it in a false scheme :)  How about the camo that is shown on the box?  It's a three color camo using similar colors over black so it would close to what you want.  My 2 cents :)

I've decided to go this route. I was looking at google pics earlier and I like the camo over black. Lock, your 2 cents is pretty good advice. Like I said before, I like to keep things accurate. It looks a lot better that way.

Mach71-  Sorry about the delay on getting your photo up.  Nice work on a very difficult lookin kit!  Again my appologies for the delay. 

Its really been miserable around the work place here.  Last 3 or 4 days I have been lucky to get about four hours of sleep a night.  Not working well for me at all.  I feel like a dead man walking.  I wanna get my models started for the builds I have dedicated to but havent been able to work on them in about 3 months.  I took on a side buisness thats sucking the wallet dry to get it running.  So in order to fund it I have been working the Drafting at night for hours on end.  

Some day over the rainbow....

Almost finished with the 135, Since I suck at sealing seams in the intake area I decided to make inlet covers from some miliput. I am waiting for it to dry so I can give it a light sanding and cleanup. But it should look pretty good once painted up.

I like the idea of Milliput for intake covers. I don't believe I don't believe I would have thought of that.

I forgot all about this build. I just started a build on my B-17G, early G, and haven't done much thus far. Can I add this one to the roster? I may, I say I may, get it done by next June. I have a WIP in the Aircraft forums if you would like to take a look.

I got you down brother.

Well, I finally got started on this kit. I will be using it as filler work in between my other kits so I will be moving slowing with it. I am using this kit as a building test bed to practice the kit and to find areas where it needs improvement, scratch work, corrections and whatnot.

I have an extra PE set for the cockpit, but other than that I am planning mostly OOB with most likely a painted scheme. Not sure I really want to use that much Alclad mostly.

Anyway, here goes the work.

I have a squadron walk around and tons of pics and info on these birds mostly so I can really, REALLY doll up my visible B-17G that sits in my stash and has almost every resin or PE available for it. It's gonna be a huge undertaking, but this one is to learn on.

I used the IPMS info on paint and mixed my best quess of "bronze green" that I could muster until I was happy with the hue and tone. I used MM chromate green and added some MM gloss black until I got this color. It's not field green, it's not interior green, it's not chromate green, it's my best guess at bronze green. I am pretty happy with the color, it matches my photos in the walk around pretty well. I also used Mr Hobby Metalizer aluminum for the waist gunners area, it still needs to be polished, cleared and washed.

I have a lot, a LOT of detial painting to do so that will take some time. Here is where I stand thus far. Be patient, this one may take a while.

Wow B1 that KC looks real nice! I particulaly like the engine inlet covers. Where did you get the 4 wing emblems for them?

Excellent work B1!  It looks superb.  Sounds like a toughie but you sure cant tell by the end product!  Got your pic up too.  Sorry it took a bit.
