Well my little Hughes 500 is done.  It's certainly not my nicest model, lol.  I do better with a little bit bigger stuff, lol.  I had some fun doing building it though. 

And with the 1/48th AH-64 Apache I did.

Stay at home mom, and wife for the most part.  So sometimes I can devote an entire day to modeling.  6-10 hours if my back can handle it.  :)

I think you have one of the hardest jobs in the world! I know my 7 and 9 year old "ladies" can drive us crazy most of the tme LOL

Now how about building that Kiowa?

It is a bit tough sometimes, lol.  But the perks of the job make it all worth it.  I started on the Blue Angels F-18, I'm sure I'll get to the Kiowa soon though.  I'll probably be at the dining room table for a week straight come winter.  I hate snow, and leaving the house in the cold, lol. 

Last time we had snow here in Africa was 4 years ago and it only lasted 2 days :-(

Let me know when you want to sign up the Kiowa I will put it on the roster.

Looks great Keyda!!! Love the little ones too! My fat fingers can get quite a workout doing tiny kits....

Got the scratch build rear seats and the seatbelts for all seats completed.

Now that adds nice detail, well done :-)

I think it snowed on Melbourne's outskirts when I was 3...that makes it 1970 if my memory is correct. I can just remember it.

Here is were my Huey is at. My club had a build day on Saturday, so I took it as far as I could before something needed to dry, in this case the Mr Surfacer 1000.

Unfortunately I pushed in a couple of windows, that's going to be a delicate job to reposition them without splitting the thing open.

Started on the little Kiowa today.  It's all of 3 sprues, lol, and one is just the windows.  So I don't see this one taking me all that long either. 

What the kit calls for to be painted.  I'm sure I'll add some more detail to it as I go.  I tend to notice stuff more when I'm putting it together.

Some more progress this afternoon.  Might be able to work on it some more tonight after my daughter goes to bed.  We'll see how my back is doing by then, lol.  I have to take my mom grocery shopping, and I'll be carrying everything.

At the airfield I work there are some Jetrangers and I have always liked the looks of this helo.

My 53 is still as is, I have heard a tip I will use to get the oilcanning better and if I can get it sorted I might have some more moejoe to continue with it.

I made a turn at a hoby shop in the nabouring city yesterday to see what they have, to my surprize I saw a 1/48 Italeri Bell 47 (I have been looking for a 1/35 Bell 47 but no luck) and decided I will take it.

With the  bell in hand I turned a corner and saw a 1/48 Revell/Eduard Albatross Dv I have also been loking for for a long time..........

So I took the Albatross and had to leave the Bell 47 witch I am convinced will be gone by the time I go there again :-(

Damn having to stick to a modling budget!! LOL

On the 53 side, I tried to smooth out the oilcaning a little and lost some of the rivet detail so I just sanded all the rivets off leaving the pannel detail. I think the rivet detail was to heavy for 1/72 anyway.

I hope to get close to be able to start priming next week.

I hate having to pick just one model kit!  In fact I'm not sure if I've ever accomplished that.  I'm pretty sure I usully leave with 2. 

Anyway, the little Kiowa is done, and I have no more helicopters in my stash......yet.

The main blade is crooked because I had a heck of a time trying to get it on there sturdy.  This little tiny pieces are too small to support the weight of the blade.  I used super glue, and well it melted the plastic a bit on the one side, lol.  Oh well.  Gives it character.

 Not too shabby for hand painting it.  I get more enjoyment out of hand painting than I do dragging out the airbrush, lol. 

I would say it is brushpainted , looks very smooth well done!I will update the pix page

Interesting to see that they leave off the tail drive shaft deck. Those bearings that support the drive shaft really don't like to get dirty.

I have been putting all sorts of bits onto the 53, the engines are on, tail is on and I really just want to get it done now.

As for choosing only the one kit, well my modling budget is very limited with the 2 kids in primary school. Mayby oneday when they are working that can repay their old man with models.....if my eyes last that long LOL

I have finally decided that the italri mh53 is just not worh any more of my tim, th painting on it has gone so bad that it is beyond any fix :-(

So it seems that I am in the market for another helo kit ....damn!

That sucks.  It's no fun when something you put so much time into has to be given up on.  On the bright side you can go shopping for another kit, lol.

I picked up a Huey gunship last week.  1/32 scale.  Never done one of those before.  Maybe I'll get to it in the near future.

I am tralling the net now for an easy to build kit that falls within my limited modest budget  :-(

This doesn't help you Theuns, but I was at a club meeting a couple of months back. Someone had contacted them to clear out some kits, and I got an armful of them for $1 each. I already had the Huey, but that's what got me on the road to building it.

I've now pushed in three of the plastic parts that were fixed before joining the fuselage sides. The first lesson learned from this initial helo build is that white glue won't cut it as a fixing agent for the clear pieces on this.

I've deliberately left the side doors off until last, to allow me some chance to fix these parts, but I won't do it now until all filling/sanding/rescribing is complete.

I had to get clear tamiya X22 as the hoby shop today and looked at the helo kits in my price range and non of them were any good....the search continues.
