Each county here in NJ does things a little different.  I live in Middlesex County and its 1 day or 1 trial every 3 years.  I work in Somerset County and they have to check in each day for a week to see if their number is called.

Hello all,

A lot of great work going on here. Well, I have to start on a new kit. While I was working an extra rotation at the fire station, my little niece Sierra deceided to take my build for a flight in the backyard. And let's just say I will have to take it to the plastic "ER". When she explained it to me (she's 5 years old)...I couldn't help but have a big smile and laugh. I told her I would let her have the one I finish so she could play with it.

68GT...I will let you know tomorrow what I dug out of the stash.

Thats stinks about the kit but it's wonderfull you were able to handle it they way you did.  I'm sure we will be here a while so whenever you get something you can just jump right in.

Steve,

Beautiful work on the F-5...I am definitely going to pick one of those up. I am always amazed how well you do on the smaller scale kits. Great job sir!!

68GT,

I went through my stash and found a duplicate of my original kit...so no changes, just starting over Big Smile

RiK,

LOL....I know what you're saying. I was at work when this took placeand my wife and sister in-law were busy talking when she was in my modeling area when she spread her wings and took it out for a spin.

Was the pilot able to "hit the silk"  in time ?

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

I got to this point on my restart...I noticed that I had the same fitting issues as I did on the first kit. I don't know if it is due to the tooling or something else.

I had this same issue on the first kit. I will need to apply putty with a toothpick and then sand it down to look correct.

The pit...simple and straightforward.

TWA: Eagles are good!

Hunter:  do you have anything salvageable on the other kit?  Maybe you can do a bash or a whatif with it?

Hello 68GT,

Yes, it is salvageable...just in a BUNCH of pieces LOL. It's funny you asked that...I was thinking of some type of dio showing a crashed up down 190.

And I started with some decales but have to mix up some red paint to match the Hasegawa decals.  Tha revell tail fin is configured a little different than the Hasegawa.

Hello everyone,

I got to work alittle today...I spent most of the time doing putty work and painting the final small pieces. Tomorrow I will sand down everything and get the paint on.

In the photo below I encountered this on my original build. Not sure if it's the tooling or what but there was a large gap.

Be back soon...

Hunter thank you for th ekind words, much appreciated.

Looking orward to see that lil F-5 come together. had a chuckle, it's not very often you see a plane kit dwarfed by clothes pins Big Smile

68 your gunfighteris looking sweet!! Are those VF-111 markings?

Here's my lil addition, done this a couple weeks ago actally and just now getting on puter to post. Been playing PS4 again lol. Got the cockpit major assembly done and got the seat in. Still working on IP, mostly finished but looks too bland, might add just a few very tiny color items to make it more visually pleasing. Well here's the pics of where I am right now. Hopefully will gt more done tonight.Toast

Nice work on the cockpit!

I like detailing these cockpits up also but I find that most of the detail is lost because of the way the 106 is designed.  The opening is very small and enclosed.

Hunter looks likeits just gonna take a lil elbow grease, nothing you can't handle. Annoying I know lol.

Cool! I saw a VF-111 Tomcat at an air force base in California back in the 80's. A friend and I happen to be there that day and we just walked into base ops and had a chat with the pilot. We asked him if he was going to go straight up. He said he couldn't for very long. So we sat and watched him taxi out and take off. True to his word, he sucked up the gear went vertical for a bit then climbed out normally. Was pretty cool lol.

UnwaryPaladin

Hello, I'd like to join, with approval.  The build will be a 1/72 Airfix Boulton Paul Defiant. I think I'll do the night version, the shark mouth is pretty cool!

Well, finished the Boulton Paul. In short, it's a very nice kit, goes together nicely.

The cockpit went together well, adequate detail for 1/72. I used Model Master acrylics and sprayed a black base then RAF interior green. A little highlighting with a silver pencil to bring out the detail.

I'm terrible about taking pictures! The build went so fast I forgot to take them. Everything went together fine, very minimal seam work.

The kit gives two options for the "turtle deck(?)" behind the turret. I wanted to use the flat one, as portrayed in the reference photos I was using, but it was much too small. So small it would have fell into the fuselage. So I used the more rounded version.

The other strange thing I found was the difference in size between the pilot and gunner. The pilot is much smaller! A father-son team perhaps? No big deal, you can hardly see the gunner in the turret.

And the finished product. I used Tamiya Sea Blue (XF-17) for the paint. It's very dark, but has a hint of blue. The paint goes on a little too flat, but a gentle burnishing with a paper towel brought out the finish I wanted. Minimal weathering, just a touch here and there with a 2B pencil and some pastel chalk. Decals were good, a little thick, but I didn't have any problems. All in all, a really nice kit. I might have to do another in camo scheme.

Well, you haven't heard from me yet, mostly because I royally screwed up the pit and fuselage, beyond saving.  Had to go get a replacement kit since this one was a gift from a friend's daughter.  Will have the decals for something in the future, along with the missles and some other items.  Have also been trying to finish up Bish's RAF GB mossy in the down time at the shop.

Just washed down the sprues on the new one and should get a start on it this coming week since the mossy is now ready for paint.

I actually have several aircraft that I have started (all at various stages) that I may add, even if it's just an impetus to get the danged things done!

I currently have the Revell F106 delta dart, F16, and F14 tomcat in the beginning stages, and I have a P47, P61 and F86 unstarted.  So as long as the build goes on, I will join in!... but it will have to wait until after the holidays....

How far along are you with the 6, Falcon and Tomcat?  Maybe you can jump right in.

I'm not entirely sure,  at the most, MAYBE the fuselage halves together?  It's been a while, after Christmas I will do a more extensive search....

Nice, is that a what if or a real camo pattern?

I have just the canopy and wheels left myself.
