That's building up very nicely, Ed.  Stukas are such attractive planes, with their pointy noses and gull-wings!

I hope you won't run into too much difficulty switching the spats for the landing gear yokes.  It'll make for a different look.

Okay, so I'm back and went through the mail to find my Victory models shipment. It appears the Fujimi spat is solid when assembled and it is just a matter of drilling the proper size hole at the appropriate angle. Plus is that its designed for the Fujimi kit. The negative is that I really don't know how many of these are still around cause I don't think DB Productions is around any more.

On Ed's bench, ???

Looks like it's very do-able, Ed.  Hope it comes out well.

Tomcat

Thanks for the comments. About those stripes. They are are a pain, so truth be told, I used thin decals. Maybe that's taking the easy way out, but iot works for me and this is suposed to be fun, right?

Anyway, here the color has been applied and the decal application has begun...

The underside "blue" has completely covered my "preshading". I think I'm going to give up on that.

So with no further ado, here it is all finished, with a bit of weathering. I tried to how some paint chipping along the forward edges of the wings. My thinking was this bird was operating in some primative conditions at some forward makeshift runway.

Thanks for looking. And now onto the Stuka.

Beautiful work TomCat!

Here’s an update on the PT Boat.

After I thought and thought on how I could super detail the life raft, I came up with a workable solution. The life raft is 3D printed from Shapeways.

First I decided to use the casing from the brass wire I used on the aft machine gun turret. Then I sliced them in half longitudinaly. After that I used The Chopper to get multiple lengths the exact size each and every time.

Then off to be painted.

I then used Syren line, which I use always use on sailing ship models, for the carrying line.

Finally, a test shot on the bow.

That's very impressive work with the raft, Steve.  It's amazing how realistic it looks.

Thanks so much Crown, the 3D products coming out now are really impressive, so I can’t take all the credit.

Painted up some Value Gear resin tarps for the raft and also as coverings for the bridge and weapons. They‘ll be stowed around the boat for some visual interest.

I was really impressed by the quality and price of the Value Gear resin. I know I’ll be using more on future builds.

The raft is now weathered and I’m pretty happy about how it turned out. It helps a great detail when you start with a good base!

Just some insane small details. Super small drilling of the mast and a bit of rigging with EZ-Line.

Houston we have a big problem. Decals disintegrated in water. I have no replacements at the moment.  So.....I'm changing my build. I'll be starting the Accurate Miniatures Airacobra. Doing it as a P-39M based in Algeria 1943

That's really disappointing and frustrating, tj.  All that work and effort, and the decals mess things up at the very end.

No possibility of substituting after market decals?

I will change the build roster to reflect your P-39.  Is the scale 1/48?

Yes it is 48th. It's basically an Eduard P-39 that Accurate Miniatures released
