Thanks everyone.  THe worst part of the kit was the decals the carrier film is like cardboard.  The other thing that bothered me was the amount of flash on everything.

John,

Nice job.  Is that the AMT/ERTL kit?  At least only your decals were bad, my whole kit is bad but in 1/72 what are you gonna do?  At least I've got a Monogram kit in the stash now, just need to get the Neomega cowlings, engines and props, and hopefully someone does a resin pit.

OK the project is complete.  AMT F7F-3 Tigercat.  The decals suck.

Just noticed in the pictures that I have to touch up the sea blue on the wheels.

But she is done.

Seeing John's efforts on his Tigercat has inspired me to get back to mine.  To find mine I think you've got to go back to page 4 and follow the link to my fotki page.  That's too much work so here's a pic from where I stopped back on 4 Nov 2008.

Here's a pic as she is today:

As you can see she is a little worse for the wear.  I got most of the dust off, still need to go back and get the rest of it.  In looking at the horizontal stabiler, I don't think there ever was a glue joint, so that should be an easy fix.  The biggest problem will be the nose gear as attachment point for the nose wheel broke off.  I found it when I peeled the masking tape off, but set it on the bench and now I can't find it (white part on white paper, not good).  Fortunately, I've got the old Monogram kit to see if I can fashion something passable.  This model, along with the Spitfire I was building for the Weekend Build GB, are a testament to Tamiya's masking tape.  I pulled it off after it sitting for about 10 months, and it pulled off as easy as if I'd applied it yesterday.  Didn't pull any paint or leave any residue.  Will post pics when I have something worth posting.

Mobious, Jason.  Thanks Its not a fall together kit like Tamigawa but with a little work its OK.   If I build another one I would make some changes in the build sequence.  The landing gear is really a PITA.

Does an A-wing from Return of the Jedi count?  If not, nothing new to report either.
