Yeah, the Tristar 1/35 Panzer I Ausf A. is finally finished!! I added a scratch jack box(popsicle stick) and a scratch rope(burlap thread), everything else is from the kit itself. For weathering, I used a series of grime and burnt umber washes. Then that was sealed in with Krylon Acrylic Clear Matte, after sealing I added a mix of pastels to the lower hull and upper hull(heavy traffic areas.) Then I went ahead and did the finishing touches with a graphite pencil. Oh and the decals obviusly put it in Norwegian service, to be exact the Pz-Abt. zBV40 Norway, 1940.
All comments, questions, and suggestions welcome!! Look out for my next build, a JS-II for the Winter Warriors GB(gonna be a wicked paint scheme.)

bufflehead Way to go mikael!! Better late than never!
Way to go mikael!! Better late than never!
Should have it done tommorrow, waiting for the final wash to dry before I seal it in.
The sad thing is I should have had this build done months ago(basically just had the hull tools left) and I kept putting it off. Oh well, at least its finally nearing completion.

Yes, I'm still working on my Panzer I Ausf A. and guess what it's 96% done!! All that's left are the decals, the final weathering washes, and of course the pastels. Thus, I should be done soon and have the finished pics up over the weekend.
bufflehead & jay12472 - Thanks for the comments!
Huxy - 15th of November.....I think that will work, since I just have to finish the tools and extras(like the scratch rope I'm making.)
Such a typical Norwegian winter landscape.. Hah.. Wonder where that may be? My Panzer I is also #13... Yours is way better than mine however!! And that badge looks slick on your signature!
Mg.mikael Yea, sure. 15th November.. Hahaha... My Gladiator is itself done months ago. Just haven't taken it on the photoshoot either...!Your tank is coming along VERY nicely!

Here's my update.....finally! Thanks for waiting.
I finally put together the turret after painting the guns and the interior. The seat has an added tissue layer for more texture, the interior was done the same way as elsewhere(layed off the yellow a bit this time.) The mufflers were in a way, spackled with some Testor's contour putty. After the putty was dried, I sanded off any high ridges, then layed down a mix of Testor's Rust and Floquil Weathered Black. Once the paint dried, I then threw on an iron powder wash to make it *pop*. PE screens have been bent, so I should be getting those painted along with the turret very soon. Then work will move to all the little gadgets and tools on the fenders.
Oh, almost forgot the jack box I scratched out of wood has also been installed w/ the PE straps. I'll get a picture of that region in my next update.
buffelhead She looks great love the weathering. I always enjoy looking at well weathered tanks.

Well fellas, the Dragon Pz. I Ausf. A is done! For some reason I struggled at the end to finish it up. Kept breaking things off (like the little fender lights) and rubbing off paint with my overhandling. I think I corrected all my mishaps, but there may be something I missed?
Anyway this little AFV was assigned to 3./Pz.Abt.z.b.V.40 in Norway, don't know what timeframe other than 1940. All the websites that I originally wanted to use as a reference for panzers in this battalion disappeared so my only reference photo was one from a Panzer I book I had. Surprisingly the vehicle is the exact same one represented by the markings in the kit!
I'm curious about all the bicycles laying on the road. Do you think the German soldiers were riding them? Maybe they were out for a little ride through the woods and some irate Norwegians started taking pot shots at them?!? Here's my version of that vehicle:
Thanks Huxy and all the other participants for a fun GB!! I learned quite a bit about a theatre of WWII that was unknown to me! I'm up for another Norway WWII GB next year; that Armo Neubaufahrzeuge kit is still out there....
Bufflehead - Your Panzer I for sure looks better than mine!!! It's so gorgeous.. o.o
Mg.mikael and the rest of you - do not worry! I want as many people to finish this.. If you need more time, just say.. I'll grant..

And just because of Mikael - new deadline will be for 1st November..
Oh thank God....or in this case, thanks Huxy! Still have alot of work(so don't expect alot of updates since I have to work and not take pics.)
bufflehead- Your Panzer is lookin' great, can't wait to see it with the tracks on! Nice work with the mufflers.
Wow that looks good!! I'm still amazed at that muffler!!
Moving right along fellas! Got the washes looking better and it turns out the shovel was broken so I had to scratch a new handle and repaint the whole darn thing! Applied some filters to the tools and exhaust tubes and muffler:
The weekend should see this little guy complete! Thanks again Huxy for the extension!
looking forward to them
Thanks all! More progress last night, but I was too tired to take photos...sorry. Had two blunders though. The detail washes didn't come out the way I wanted probably because I didn't wait for them to dry thoroughly, and I dropped the painted shovel and proceeded to roll over it with my chair.... Fortunately it didn't break, but it got a little bent and the paint was all scraped off in areas (sigh). Huxy, thanks for the extension! Looks like I'll need a couple more days to fix my booboos! Still, I should have it done before the weekend is over! If I'm not too tired I'll post some photos tonight.
YEAH I can finally add the last touches to the ship
bufflehead Great job on those tools and running gear. I ahve to admit I was a little worried when I seen the mufflers pink but the came out very nice and realistic
BUFFLEHEAD
i am glad to see your correct coloring of the mufflers and tools
so many of us tend to just through the same camo/body color of the tank over those items and leave it at that
Zipping right along! Toned down the markings and applied an ochre filter via the AB. Finished the tools and mufflers:
See...the mufflers aren't pink any more!
I used Rembrandt soft pastels. Dark brown, red-brown and some rusty color. Just rubbed a little on an old sanding stick.
The rest of the tools and the MGs
And the whole round up! Lots of work tomorrow to get it all together for final weathering!
Thanks guys!
End date is closing in so here's an update:
Used mostly Vallejo acrylic paints - Model Air German Gray for the basecoat and various Model Colors for the detail painting. Markings for 3./Pz.Abt.z.b.V.40 Norway, 1940 are included in the kit and they went on beautifully with a little future brushed first on the appropriate areas, dried 24 hrs and then decals applied with some Solvaset.
I like to paint my mufflers pink!
Well, they start out pink. Then I paint little dots on them before applying pastels and oil washes. I like good looking mufflers!!
I'll post another update tomorrow night!
Bufflehead nice work on the panzer Its coming along beautifully
Yikes, you have more tools on the build then mine, most of my tools are still on the sprue. Dang, I guess my build rate really came to a stop. Nevertheless your Panzer is comin' along great, bufflehead!
PS: I hope you guys check out the new GB I'm hosting.....The Bear Trap GB.
Huxy, nice photos!! I like the shot of the barrels pointing out over the city!
Well I'm back from out of town and made some progress on the Pz. I. Assembly is done and by the time you read this it will be primered and probably have the basecoat on. I believe this was Dragon's 2nd release of their "Smart Kit" series, but I think they didn't quite get it right. There were some fit issues, instruction errors, it wasn't as easy an assembly as I expected and some features are incorrect for a "late" Ausf. A wartime version. I built their Pz IV Ausf. G Kharkov kit last year and that was a beautiful experience. The fit and finish of the kit was first rate! I guess it kind of spoiled me Don't get me wrong...this Pz I is very nice, but I was a little disappointed. BTW, I have Tristar's late Pz I A (no interior) in the stash and it doesn't look to have any of the accuracy issues of the Dragon kit. Someday I'll build it and see how they compare.
OH!! Photos.........
