1/48 Armor GB (Non Aircraft)

I should think that for 1/48 armor that June should be plenty of time.

 TD4438 - hope you can talk your wife into it! I'm interest in your staff car too, I was looking at some AVG pictures today and I think they had that car as their staff car. Hard to tell in a BW photo, but looked a bit too shiny to be in olive-drab camo too.

I think the Merkava will work for me.  Yet another to go into the production line.

So are we going now until June or waiting a couple weeks to drum up some more interest?

I say we go now, got 10 people.  We'll be happy to add people as to discover this thread.

Matt, I have that HB T-34 kit and can't wait to do it - but always been holding back because I wanted to do justice to the full interior. I have the Tamiya one also, so I was thinking maybe I'll make the HB one a cut-away kit.

I'll let you know as soon as I can. The only thing in my stash at 1/48 is a corsair. So I need to run to the LHS and see if they have anything I have not built. I am not going to hold my breath, they don't have a lot to choose from.

Hey I guess I could shear the wing off and make the corsair a hedgerow weed eater! NAH I just go to the store instead!

TD, The Citreon is just as good. Better yet do both like you said. If I have the time (and I hope to since the Kurogane is a small kit), I would do my Swimwaggen (Frog - ex Bandai molds) thats been sitting in my stash for a while.

Ithink the main thing is it's "New!".  It did come wrapped up along with a Mustang in a box kit for a while and I think they just released it solo...

I agree about the prices on the Tamiya 1/48 kits here in the US. But if you compare that with the cost from Asian Hobby stores online, the cost is about 75%-80% more here. Granted, there's shipping and handling, but I think it's mostly the distributor's added cost.

I've started buying mostly my Asian kits directly from Asia, the shipping of course bumps the cost of buying just one kit back up to almost US levels. But by buying waiting and saving up to buy 4 or 5 kits, i usually get a 50% discount compare to US online shops. For example, the staff car is about $17 and the Citreon is $9 US.  Compare that to $30 and $15 from a well know US mail order place.  Of course sometimes the US have great sales too.

I actually started on my Kurogane yesterday. Lay down some paint, looks like a fairly easy and fast build (for me anyway). So easy that I'm thinking of cutting open one of the doors just to add a bit of variety into the build.

I was waiting for some paint to dry (seriously), so I decided to take pics of the kit while I was waiting, so here's what I'll be working with. Don't know yet when I'll start, possibly tomorrow, but then again I'll probably put it off for a week or so.

I like the look of that Bren Carrier, but I don't have one in my stash. So, I'd like to contribute a Tamiya Stug III Ausf. G if that's OK.

I can post some unstarted photos later today, but I'm off on holiday for a week tomorrow. I hope to have the basic construction done at the end of that, so I'll post some more pics then.

If you guys do the eBay thing-- there is a sller there who sells the quarter scale Tamiya kits for very reasonable prices-- search under a seller named "must_bid". Most of the smaller vehicles are going for from $9-12...tanks for $16-19...figgies-- ~$8...sorry-- no staff car :(

He did combine shipping for me-- you just maybe need to contact him first?? 

By the way-- GM has the US staff car on sale for $20 and some change...
