IMS IV : The Return of the Stash
Posted by kenny_conklin on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 7:03 PM
HI and welcome to IMS IV . This is our fourth year running on this GB . It is fun and alot of great people have joined and produced many a great model . If you are new to this build the concept is your post your top 15 kits you have at home and the rest of us get to vote on what you build. If you want to check out our past builds go to these links.

In My Stash GB '07 - /forums/1/701837/ShowPost.aspx#701837

In My Stash GB '08 - /forums/1/855779/ShowPost.aspx#855779

In My Stash GB '09 - /forums/1/1032593/ShowPost.aspx#1032593

the rules are as follows :

1. Any scale

2. Any Genre

3. Must be from what you have at home and not previously started

4. Diorama or Stand alone project

5. Any extras you want to put into your build

6. Pick your top 15 kits and list them on your post (post a pic also if you can )

7. Join Dates November 17, 2009 til December 26, 2009 (all lists must be in by this date)

8. Voting is from December 28, 2009 til December 30, 2009 then the polls will be closed.

9. Build runs from January 1, 2010 til December 31, 2010

10. GB badge to be claimed once you have completed your build

11. pm IL2windhawk here at FSM with your email address so he can add you into the voting table.

12. please when you post your list add the scale of each model or group them by scale

13. If you do nt have 15 kits in your stash that is fine but please do not post 1 kit as your stash . Hopefully 5 or better would be nice.

14. Please dont post something just to post it then it wins the vote and you dont want to build it. This group build is about fun so make sure you list kits you really want to build but have just been sitting there.

Because many people do run into everyday problems of work family issues and sometimes general frustration with the kit and need to put it down for awhile this build runs the entire year. If you are a fast builder and want to move onto your next highest voted on kit that is great ! it has been done in the past and works very well.

We need a new GB badge for this build so the more ideas the better just  post them on the board and we will pick the one the whole group likes best .

If you have any questions please email me at ken@hobbyli.com .

I hope to see alot of old faces and alot of new ones for this build.

And remember it is all about having fun !

This is also going to be a crossover build . I will also be holding it at http://www.hobbyli.com/ you dont have to post on both sites but if you want to feel free to .

VOTE SYSTEM REGISTRATION
Everyone that has signed up for this GB: your first order of business is to send me a PM with your email address so that I can register you for IMS4 voting.

(1) PRIVACY
Your email address will be kept safe and secure by me alone.  I wish that I did not require it, but the voting system will not allow me register users without it.  All information is stored on my server, and is promptly deleted after voting is completed.

(2) About the IMS4 VOTING SYSTEM
The "voting system" is simply a web forum (like FSM) in which "poll-threads" will be created for each IMS4 member.  You will need to have a log-in account to cast votes.  Your username and password will be created by me, and provided to you via PM.

(3) IMS4 VOTE SYSTEM LINK
The IMS4 voting system is UNDER CONSTRUCTION.  The web address will be made available via PM after your account has been created.

(4) TEST VOTING
It is a requirement for every IMS4 participant to test-vote at least once so that hidden problems with the vote system or your account can be corrected before the official vote.  Attempts to fix accounts during the short election period could jeopardize the entire vote (via loss of data, etc.)

(5) YOUR STASH LIST
Please post your stash list in the IMS4 Group Build Thread at the FineScale forums.  I will create your personal poll-thread at the IMS4 Vote System and I will enter your kit information for you.  Afterwhich, you will be able to post pictures / comments in your thread.
NOTE PLEASE be very sure of your stash list when you post it at FSM.  Any subsequent changes that you make to your list will require significant added effort by me.  Thank you for understanding.

  1/32 Revell ASK-21

I'll join in again too though my Snowberry is likely to extend into next year so my list for this one will be more modest.

I am so in for this one!

But I need to understand a little better. Are we supposed to list the kits on a post here, or just list them in a PM? Also, are we listing the 15 kits that we realy need an excuse to get working on or our 15 favorite kits in the stash (only 15 kits on a deserted island....) or our "I can't wate to get started on this" top 15 or what, exactly, do you mean by "top 15" kits?

This is such a great idea. If I join I can make shore I finish at least 1 kit next year! Yaaaaa!Shock [:O]Party [party]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

hey andrew . from the first time we started this we have posted a pic of the kits we intend to enter into the vote and a list of them. we also send a pm to il2windhawk because he is the person who creates the vote table. send him the list and the scales and he will do what he has to.

as for your top 15 kits it is your choice. your top 15 in your stash or the 15 that have been sitting around forever and this build will get you to build at least one of them or a mixture of both.

i hope that helps if you need more info please feel free to ask

If I could make some suggestions based on our past experience...

Post your kits with pictures of each here.  That helps the rest of us view, drool, and cackle over the kits we'll eventually be voting for you.  You can then send IL a PM with your list, although he may just grab from your post.  We'll see.

Let's keep in mind that the voting is to be secret, so don't be blurting out what your voting for! Big Smile [:D]  Sorta defeats the fun in it.

Lastly, be careful what you ask for.  If you have some big kits you just aren't ready to tackle for whatever reason, don't put them in your list.  They will without a doubt be selected! Evil [}:)]  Just ask Dave and his Snowberry, or Kenny and 1/350 aircraft carrier from the first IMS, and Kenny and the 1/35 rail gun, and Kenny and the 1/32 F-16CJ, and the guy with the 1/48 C-130 Hercules who never posted again in the GB after the voting (perhaps shock), and....

You get the point.

Kenny, you might want to lay out some ground rules for those who may have 15 kits or less in the stash.  I know we had some issues with that last year and my proceeding paragraph on kits not ready to build.

you are absolutely right in all you said arki i will add in the rules about the amount of kits you have in your stash .

and yes becareful of what you choose . it took me over a year to finish the carrier and the other two did not get done because of personal issues . that is why i m not putting myself in the build just running it and watching . still no where to build anything . and eventually i will get one of the other two done the tracks of the leopold are done and i will build that bad boy and as far as the F16 she is gone gave her away as a prize so that build is not going to get done at all . will have to look back and see what was my second choice. when i do get a place to build those other builds will be done :-)

I missed out on this last year as i was in afghan, and didn't think i should get in on this years as i have a handful of GB's to complete already. But seeing as they all finish in the first half of the year, count me in.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I know this might seem a bit soon, but seeing as i already have a large number of my kits listed in the order i plan to build them, it was just a case of going through and seeing which ones i wanted to build the most. So here is my list. I will post pics at the end of next week when i get home, will take me forever from here.

I can't wait and I am going to post my list right now!

1/72 Aircraft

1 - Revell - Arado Ar 240C-02 Nightfighter  (vintage 80's kit)

2 - Italeri - XB-70 Valkyrie

3 - Hasegawa - Lancaster B mk.I/Mk.III

4 - Matchbox - Heinkel HE219 "Uhu"  (another vintage 80's kit)

5 - Dragon - Ar234C-3W with V1 "huckepack"

6 - Revell of Germany - Heinkel HE177 A5 "Grief" & Fritz X  (also includes a Czekch master's kit resin detail kit)

1/48 Aircraft

7 - Tamiya - Dornier Do335B-2 Pfiel Heavily Armed Version

8 - Tamiya - Bristol Beaufighter TF.Mk.X

9 - Dragon - Horton HO229A-1 Flying Wing

10 - Dragon - "Willi Reschke" Focke Wulf TA152H-0

11 - Fujimi - Messerschmitt BF110 C/D

12 - Monogram - Heinkel HE111 - H4/6

13 - Monogram Pro Modeller - Junkers Ju88C-6 night fighter

1/32 Aircraft

14 - Heinkel HE162A-2 Salamander

1/54 Misc?

15 - Revell - The History Makers - German V-2 Missle   (another Vintage 80's Kit)

Scary, I just realised that almost every one of them is a German WWII aircraft.  Some of these I have had for a few years and am just looking for an excuse to build. I only recently bought the vintage 80's stuff. Local hobby shop had a huge amount of these classics that I just had to have :)  Also I noticed these are almost all quite intimidating builds, hence the "looking for an excuse to build".

Pictures will follow later.

Dave - some nice kits in there..and by nice I mean nice for me to watch someone else build! Should be 'interesting'.

I always put up things that are going to be a learning curve for me - resin, PE etc. I put up stuff that otherwise I would keep putting off. This years list is forming in my head...but I might have something big for Xmas so I'll have to see.
