Interest in an "OstFront" GB anyone?
Posted by kermit on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 10:49 AM

Hey folks,

For a week or two i've been playing with the idea of getting a GB off the ground involving the war on the eastern front in WW2. Alot of GB's with a 6 month term are coming to their end dates soon and ah well... you can never have enough group builds to choose fromWink

Not only could this involve Germany versus russia in terms of aircraft, armor and ships but don' t forget countries involved like Finland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia etc. etc. plus the option to build lend lease stuff.

So, general enough to have a staggering vareity of builds going on i would say.

Just an inquiry to check if there is any real interest and/ or idea's about it i haven't thought of yet....

Kermit, I love to but I'm up to my eyeballs with stuff already.

Have you posted anything over on the armour forum? Some of them might be interested and I'm not sure all of them check over here. You might try the aircraft one as well.

Good Luck!

Would like too, but knee-deep at the moment in finishing some WIP's. I've missed some good ones lately too.

Sounds interesting.  If the completion time is well after the summer I'm in.  I could continue with my Heinz Bar project.

Depends on your time frame.I  am not starting any more projects until i finish the 2 GB's i have going and caught up on my Dio's, which stands at 8. But my next build once all that is done is an Eastern Front one, but i am not expecting to start that until at least the end of the year.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I would be interested to enter a T-34 by Dragon in 1:35. It will be my first atempt at whitewash. Are you OK with crossbuilds?

Sounds good to me. I have an FW 190 to do as well as three tanks (Tiger 1, Stug III and an Su-100) that I could enter, hopefully the planned finish date would be a year away, because I have a P-47 I want to enter in the next NMF group build.

I'm with the guys above, an Eastern Front GB would be a cracker, with heaps of great subject matter, it would give me an excuse to build another Bf 109 for a start! I agree, though, leave it a while as we have so much on already.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

I'm interested in the concept, but like others have said, I have a few projects I'd really like to clear from the bench before I could commit to another GB at this time. Just PM me with a time frame when you wanna start up the "OFGB".

Ok boys, it seems to me that we have a healthy interest in such a GBWink I also understand that most of the above interested people cannot start their builds until later this year...

Going on a prolonged visit to the USA at the end of this month i couldn't start before august anyways....

Therefore i would suggest a starting date of october 1st, running for a full year?

Thanks to all for their reply. I am so looking forward to thisSmile

A Fall start will work for me, as long as the end date is after the holidays, lots of GBs end Dec 31.

Ok people, we are two months ahead in time, did my holiday (God i love being in the states LOL) and am now ready to make things official after clearing things with M1A2 because the Soviet GB will start a second term too.

(thanks M1!Wink)

General idea is to get this GB off the ground starting October 1st and running for a full year, allowing each and everyone to finish their projects.

I will start the actual GB thread shortly. Thanks to all for your input and thoughts. I think this might just be a winnerBig Smile
