Medium Bomber Group Build?
Posted by redraider56 on Thursday, April 29, 2010 3:44 PM

Hi all, I had an idea of a WW2 medium bomber group build and was wondering if anyone would be interested.  After I finish my most recent project, I'm gonna hit the bombers hard.  I wouldn't plan on having any end date or anything, it probably be a never ending build.  This would be kind of broad with any scale and any country accepted.  Anyone interested?

open end dates tend to drive people away that ive noticed. the ones that are most succesfull that ive seen have a start and an end date. and a subject matter that everyone has in their stash. (ww2 fighters, battle of britain. me109 etc) but well see how this goes. i dont do medium bombers, but ill be watching.

I was thinking the no end date because I have noticed a few group builds that I would like to join but wouldn't be able to finish a plane in time.  Also I think it would take a little pressure off a builder and let them put more effort into their build.   This is just my opinion though

Or I guess I could pick a date a long time from now, sometimes I notice some builds linger a little bit after the end date.  O well, I'm open to any suggestions

im doing a rocket power gb which starts tommorow and goes for just over a year. one thing i have noticed is people join group builds to get motivation to bring out their stalled kits. or restart old glue bombs. you got anything with rockets youd like to build? you can join mine Stick out tongue lol. but about 6 or 12 months is a good time frame. give people a chance to finish things to a high standard. Any one else want to pitch in here?

I think an end date would be better. It give people a target to aim for and stops it just trailing off and dieing a slow death. You could make it a year.

As for me, i am commited for the rest of the year on one last GB and catching up on my Dioramas as i over commited to GB's in the last 18 months. I think this is the 3rd or 4th i have seen in the last week that i would like to take part in, but now i am only going to commit to one at a time. So if the time frame is right for me and if i have finished everything else, i will deffinatly be in.

Yea I'm not gonna start it right now.  I gotta finish my big project (B-17 diorama) first and then I would start this.

As a suggestion, i would anounce the GB, perhaps in a new thread, giving the rules, dates and so on, about a month to 6 weeks before the start date. This give people time to finish off other builds, decide what they are going to build and so on.

There was a medium bombers GB not too long ago (I built a B-25 & B-26) so you might want to wait a while before launching it.  And I agree that having an end date is generally better.

Actually there is a bomber GB going on right now. It isn't that active but starting a second probably wouldn't help either of them.

I wouldn't mind at all to join if it starts next year.
