I'd like to get in on this with an old Revell or Monogram Iowa Class BB.I've been itching To build one again.I don't think I have it in me to adhere to the criteria, but would still like to join.

oh i have a great idea for my entry... I have a revell snap tite F14 that my daughter never started. I can snap the parts and re-build, all in one day! And decals are stickers, so i do not even need water ;)

I really like the idea of this GB, I cannot build under the parameters set fourth. I thought the idea over in the depths of my mind and would be too tempted to sand, snip and cut away seams and sprue attachment points.

When I return to the west this summer I will take pictures of some of my saved 'glue bombs and paint gobs' of models from when I was young to post.Cool

After reading soome of the posts here I will admit that twisting parts off is something I never did.  My dad showed me how to use a hobby knife right from the start.  Most of my model had gouged out chunks where the attachment points used to be instead.

Perhaps the most important lesson I have learned is that you should never argue with an idiot. The people around you may not be able to tell the difference.

Tempted to join, while I did twist parts off I then cleaned them up with mums paring/fruit knife, is that allowed?

Well I dont know about you, my I broke the odd rule when I was a kid, and heaven knows my kids do (is there a cure for that?). So maybe in the spirit of the build some rules need to be broken, bent, stretched, manipulated or whatever.

  • Be real impatient. Remember how you NEEDED to get that kit built in one sitting (ok....maybe two...but the word TOMORROW never crossed you mind Embarrassed
  • NO HOBBY KNIFE....just twist and pluck the parts of.

My dad taught me from the beginning to use a knife though.  I never twisted parts off of the tree...Didn't sand attachment points smooth, just cut them down with the knife..

  • TUBE GLUE ONLY......Testors/Crazy glue,etc

Think I may still have some red tube glue around somewhere..

  • NO AIRBRUSHING.....just paintbrushes direct from the bottle. SPRAY CANS are cool.

Only thing that wasn't brush painted was the outside of the kit.  All interior work was brush painted, but the exterior was airbrushed from the get-go.  Maybe I'll have to find some spray cans for it..

  • NO DECAL SOLUTION......water is fine. You didn't know about silvering then, no??

Decal solution?  Hah!  Started using it at like 10 or 11...  So that's ok

  • NO PRIMING.......just slobber on the paint on the bare plastic.

Never primed as a kid...

  • Eating pizza, chips or chicken wings in the process?? IT'S OK....i mean, fingerprints are cool too!!

Unfortunately eating while working on models was a big no-no...Maybe I can throw some fingerprints in there though.

I'm interested for sure.  I'll have to find a kit to use but that shouldn't be a problem.  I think I have some that I've been avoiding since I was modeling with my dad.  I'll see what I can dig up.

OK put me down for a Airfix 1/72 P-40 Kittyhawk. Its minus the pilot which I gave to my 8y/o for one of his builds which kinds suits the spirit of the GB (ie kids trading parts and stuff), Will start and finish soon :)

I think Andrew has it right about the spirit of the build.  I'll have to change one rule right from the start though, due to wife being prego i'll be using safe weld so i don't mutate my kid before it makes it out.  I'll be down for an Airfix 1/32 SdKfz 250/3.  An oldie but it should be fun.

All right... here goes my first ever GB and first online build.

It's Airfix's old Sd Kfz 250/3.  I got it for free from a ffellow club member.  Figured it would fit the nature of the build, esp. with some hombrol enamals later.

This si waht the inside looks like.  Apparently some of the parts must have fallen off the sprues at some point in time which is making finding some of the parts a real challenge.

And this is waht a couple hours of modelling gets me.

Do we have a badge and roster yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?are we there yet? lol

I will 'build" a Revell F14 Tomcat SnapTite kit... no paint, some (tube) glue, stickers for decals. Perfect!

I may add a crappy old Testors P51 I binned some time ago, as well as a Revell car i got for my kid years ago and she did not build.

basiltank - nice start! Remember NOT to sand off the copyright dates from the hull! ;)

We don't have a badge or roster yet although any ideas would be good.  I was thinking a baby with a tube of glue in hand... or something better :) And now are we there yet??  Don't make me turn this GB around! haha

Can't wait to see your tomcat, snaptite fight right in.  Congrats on joining the GB and can`t wait to see what happens.

I might jump in with Revell's Snap-Tite "Hot Wheels" 2004 Corvette Coupe.

Dont worry if this build is a little slow to gather members, I started one 3+ years ago callled "Paint Brush Challenge" and it's been a little slow, but the ones that have joined and completed projects had a blast, and so will the folks that wander into this one.Smile Burger

Edit: The badge is off to a good start, but can we lose the pacifier? I dont think any of us built models THAT youngWhistling

I'm off!! OK, Kaysee88 you said "maybe 2" sittings? well, that's what this one will be. If you can count painting as a sitting since I sprayed it outside standing up........ No prep work, just shot Grape Pearl right over the purple plastic.

Now after it cures for a day or two (Testor's enamel), It wont be too sticky to touch and I can finish the rest of it within 2 hoursCool
