StuG Group Build "feeler" post
Posted by Slightly Altered on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 5:51 PM

Hey guys,    It's been quite a while since I've been on site, and being tied up at the shop hasn't helped... But things are starting to slow down a bit, so, I've bounced this idea back and forth over a couple posts with an old friend on here and wanted to get a feel of what ya'll think.

StuG GB, any scale, any theater, any variant, any condition....    Any ideas????   I personally would need a chance to get another StuG in hand, cause I don't seem to have one in the stash.  But maybe a starting date around January?   Going till..............................??????????    Remember, I build kinda slow, lol.

I kinda figured this might be a good way to get back in touch with some old hands on site, and get to know some new one's.....  So any input would be appreciated Big Smile

Thank you guys,

Dale

Hi Dale,

I'd have some interest if you choose to start it. Let's say one kit.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

A StuG is always a nice thing to see modeledWink Considering the fact that alot of people signed up at the Ostfront GB with Sturmgetschutze i think that this GB will have some response. If only for the crossovers. Consider me in!Wink

Hi Slightly Altered and all,

I'm a big fan of the StuGs, both III and IV, I'm building a Dragon F/8 for the Ostfront right now (not enjoying it terribly much, as it happens), and I have a number of Tamiya IIIs and IVs in my stash which I'm always interested in putting together as there are so many markings options and various equipment fits. Ostensibly I'm in, but I am way overcommitted (what else is new?), so I might have to squeeze a quick build in late in the tenure. January 1st to June 31st?

Great idea for a GB, there should be heaps of great completions with a theme like this!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

After being in and still comitted to some GB's that deal with aircraft it would be nice to build a tank of some sort again. I'm interested but I'll be an late entry if Im able to.

I build a 1/48 Tamiya StuG and liked it, I'm interested in building the other version they offer. (I cannot remember which one I built)

Alright guys,  sounds like we might be able to get this rolling then, huh?

January to June sounds like a good time frame.   I think even I could get one done in that  Big Smile

Kinda been kicking around an idea for a badge.....   So let me know what you think.

Only pic I have the rights to.

But anyone fab up any other ideas?

Sound off gentlemen

Dale,

If this gets off the ground, put me in!  I built the little 1/48 Tamiya STuG for a weekend project and loved it.  I have the newer StuG IIIB in 1/35 from Tamiya with the PE extras and aluminum barrel in the kit.  I loved the earlier stubby nosed StuGs anyways.

Starting to get a little closer to the possible kick off.

I should be getting a StuG kit in the next week and a half or so. Going to be a Dragon (Cyber Hobby)1/35, variant is still undecided but the StuG III G with the Deep Wading Muffler looks pretty good to me.

Did a different variation on a badge idea. But this is still just an idea, anyone have something different?

Later guys

Dale, got a couple of Stug III in the stash that I've been wanting to build for some time. Probably be a late start though.

I would like to take a shot at it. I need to get my spraybooth/compressor set up.....and I am not real good at finishing so I won't sign up for any others until finished and it will be in TOTS scale {the one true scale 1/48}

Hey guys!

Looks as if we might have a go on this huh? Got a few good hands posted in with the affirmative.... Whad'ya say, fire this thing off January 1st?

WW2psycho says the second badge is better.. He's right, the lettering is more appealing Big Smile

Satch gave us a boost with his pics.... thank ya Satch

Mobious has a couple in his stash, but will be a tad late to start.... Which I probably will be too guys. But my StuG will be coming!!!! And I'll be building with all available engines fired Toast

Even have dostacos interested!!!  How'ya been bud? Long time since the WW GB back in 08

So, we have the technology, the parts, and the drive...  Looks as if we've got a group build!   Any scale, any variant, any theater, and any condition right? Badge claimed upon completion?  Post pics  of the kit at the start and build, build build??? LOL.

Now, with me still being new at this,( gotta keep that fact in mind!!! This is a first for me here) So the official GB thread should be started up around the 30th? with a roll-call style list of you guys from this thread? So, narrow down a kit, manufacturer, scale and shout out and the list will be compiled, then added to as new builds are claimed?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm really looking forward to building with ya'll again, and can't wait till the 1st!

More later

Nice!!!    You going with the 105mm or the 75mm?

Gotta admire your ability on the smaller scales, I can't even get my hands to work on things smaller than 1/35 Toast

I'm going to see how each look before deciding. The one with the cast turret I did has the 75mm, so I might go with the 105mm to change it up.

I started modeling in 1/48 scale and since I do armor and aircraft its nice to see size comparison in the same scale.

'Even have dostacos interested!!!  How'ya been bud? Long time since the WW GB back in 08  ' I fell off the truck.... we have been remodeling the house and my air compressor & dust booth were banned to the garage UNDER other things. I will be using this build as an excuse to set it up again
