Andrew: Thanks! I still have some parts from the old AMT kit I also built way back when the show was on the air and thought about picking up the Kitech one. I went ahead and blew the money for the Aoshima kit, which is fantastic but as you said half the detail they put into the interior won't even be visible when she's finished unless you do a cut-away.

Funny, I've been working my way back though the Airwolf episodes on DVD again. And yeah so much stock footage used over and over. And Dom identifing planes as Mig-21s and using a computer screen showing a French Mirage III while using stock footage of a completly different third plane! And the episode I watched the other night they used a stunt double that didn't look even slightly like Jan-Michael Vincent. Not quite as bad as a few Star Trek episodes where they used a stunt double with curly hair for Nimoy/Spock but close!

Cliff, don't sweat it, complete and photograph and post when you can no hurry. Movies are suppossed to go over time and over budget.

As for the Kitech kit? Its a direct copy (or repop I don't know) of the AMT kit (I built that in my late teens). Considering the age the detail is pretty good. A mix of raised and grooved detail. Building it right out of the box would leave the cockpit, or at least the rear cockpit innacurate but its hard to see all buttoned up anyways. As I saidI will be doing some work to this kit in that area though .(After a night of searching I have what I need). As for the rest? Some test fitting shows the body halves will align well with some TLC and taking it slow.

Basically for $15 inc postage its a fine kit. From what I've seen of the Aoshima kit I will wait and see where I go with this one before I make any decisions if I ever get that. It has some errors rear cockpit wise but hase some nice PE upfront.

Andrew:

What's your verdict on the quality of the kit? I've heard different stuff about the brand.

Again sorry for my lack of progress, I really need to get something, anything done. My camera is down and sent it off for repair but the shop told me they have a backlog and won't even be able to get to it for two-three weeks so I can't post photos of what little I have gotten done.

12 days to go...

Well the kit arrived today this was the pic from ebay

This is what arrived

I figured that was case though I trusted the seller due to his feedback score.

He's the shots of what was in the box

I already know I'm up for some scratching. The back seat is 2 seats side by side instead of the EW warfare area. Not going to get to anal with it as most will not be visable but will do what time allows.

I have both the original Battlestar series and recently obtained Airwolf amazing how much splicing and resplicing of the combat scenes in both (and many other similar series) but it was just so awesome in the day you just overlooked it (and still do)

Konigwolf13

Well finally ordered my build today Embarrassed. Comes from HongKong so 2-3 weeks for it to get here leav me 1-2 weeks to build it.

What is it I hear you ask.

A Kitech (yes cheap chinese stuff but cant afford the real version at the moment) 1/48 Airwolf. The missus insists that I play the theme many times while I build it.

Andrew

Very cool! I coughed up the money for the Aoshima kit last year. Airwolf was my favorite TV growing up so I didn't mind too much. The theme music is pretty close to my favorite all time TV theme- thirty years later I could still hum it. Went out last year and bought the DVDs of the show- funny what holds up and what doesn't.

Nice, very nice. nothing says Bond more than an Aston. Exept maybe the girls and the cheesy meglomaniac spilling his world dominations just before leaving bond to die. Front page will be undated in a sec.

Here's my 007 Aston Martin DB5. The Doyusha kit is a simple curbside, more a toy, without much detail, than  a model. It was fun to build while re-watching Goldfinger. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did building it.

This side-view shows the tire cutters extended and the raised bullet-proof shield.2012-01-21 at 23-30-19.jpg

Another view of the shield and the rear end. The bumpers were stripped and rechromed with Alclad II. The tail lights were covered with Bare Metal foil and painted with Tamiya clear red and orange.

Here's a look at the front. The revolving license plate and the drop-down turn signals with 30 cal. machine guns are visible here.

Clear parts were dipped in Future.

There she is! I still have the Toyota 2000 GT from You Only Live Twice but I don't know if I'll be able to get to it.

Andrew:

Thanks for putting together this GB. And my apologies for defaulting on it. I haven't even touched my model in about nine months. I'll see about getting something done but so far I keep getting distracted by something new Embarrassed

First up, I apologise for the long time missing from my own group build. All I can do is say a very big Thankyou Beer  to those who have continued in my absence.

Second with this posts also comes and update to the front page of finished builds.

Third end date is officially Feb 26. But just as all great movies go overbudget they also go overtime so because of my absence late builds will be accepted (my own may be one of these Sad )

TD4438, love the um, bright yellow tank, would go well with Tank Girls pink armor. Looking fwd to the Zombieland RV if you get it finished.

Tojo72, nice KT. I had the same kit with similar plans on it till my it got donated to my 12y/o daughter. Currentley it sits 1/2 built in more than a couple of shades of purple LOL. Again great build.

PJ, what can I say thanks for doing justice to one of the top cars of all time (even if its not a Holden). Top work!!!

Stik, great work as always mate, thanks for comming along for the ride even when the driver was AWOL.

Kenjitak, nice Batmoble. One of my fave shows from my childhood. Thanks for sharing.

Again my apologies and best of luck to all.

I didn't include this one when I applied for this GB, but I just got it and thought I'd put it together NOW! I promise I'll still build what i committed to do and this is just extra frosting. Hope you like it.

With the completion today of painting "Lt Brubaker", and then installing him in my Monogram F9F-5, I am calling this one done for this GB.
