Odd Animals GB feeler
Posted by CallSignOWL on Monday, April 4, 2011 3:44 PM

I've decided to take a crack at hosting a group build and want to gauge interest in an "animal" group build. Only, the name of the aircraft is mismatched, in that its named after a land animal or sea creature. Think Brewster Buffalo, Sopwith Camel or any of the Grumman Cats. Not only aircraft are qualified.  Helicopters named after a sea/land creatures are welcome, as are land vehicles named after swimming/flying things.

I'm thinking of a start date on May 1st and have it run for a year. Anyone interested?

I have a hit for a Airacobra in the other thread and I'm good for a Warthog or Black Widow in 1/48 scale. (cant decide between them yet!)

Any other takers?

A duck? Is this an aircraft named so? If it is, it wouldn't qualify because ducks and aircraft both fly....

can I put you down as a maybe?

Hi Owl, I may be in with a 1/48 Sepecat Jaguar GR1A from ESCI...but it will all bank on when you want to start and when you want to finish and how much work I get done on other projects I've got running. So I guess I'm tentative for now.

Looking at my shelf I got 2 Bike Kits that would fit.

Both are Honda "Steed's" a 400cc and a Springer Fork Steed VLS, btw you 'mericans call those the "Honda Shadow".

Need to get back into building mode as I also got a Ninja that needs to be done for the Hollywood GB.

I don't know much about bikes, I'm an airplane girl to be honest, but I'm curious as to what the names of those bikes are? Are they named after a flying or swimming creature?

The Honda Steed/Shadow is a chopper or also often referred to as a Steel-Horse.

Like they do in some Bon Jovi songs " A Steel Horse I ride", etc.

The Honda Steed name is a bit tongue in check, Old Honda Motto was " If you ain't got wings you can't fly".

Refering to the wing emblem on the tanks of their Motorbikes, so Wings + Steed(Horse) = Pegasus = Flying Horse.

HTH.

OWL, i'm not sure as far as markings go. I'm for sure going to do one of the ones with the nose art. Gotta look around closer to the time I start to see if I can find some good decals.

Here's a real warthog

Thx, Guys.

i do know what a warthog looks like as I hunted those.

Still waiting for an answer if a  Steed Kit would apply for this GB or not.

....Im gonna have to say no. A motorcycle is a land vehicle and yours is named after a land animal (Steed). If it was officially called Pegasus or named after a non-land animal I would allow it.

Alright everybody, Ive posted the official GB thread in the Group Builds sub-forum. Please head over and post to verify your participation and kits. If there is ??? next to your name, that means I am missing some info. If you could supply that bit of information that would be super!
