Heck yes! I was going to propose this, but I'm already thinking about hosting a P-47 GB, and hosting one is plenty at a time...

Might I suggest though, making it an M4 and other VVSS/HVSS vehicles GB? That way you could open it up to some more variety with the M10/M36/Wolverine/Achilles tank destroyers, the M7 Priest, the Stuart, etc.

I've got a ton of Shermans in the stash, so I'd definitely throw one at this.

I would build a Sherman for a group build. It's always nice to have a reason to build one. I've got more Shermans in 1/72, 1/76, 1/48 and 1/35 than I dare to count.

One question that would need to be asked/answered is whether or not the build is for Shermans or if it includes "pre-Shermans" like the M3 Grant/Lee, Sherman-based vehicles like the M10/36 Tank Destroyers or M32 recovery vehicles, M12/M40 SPGs, etc.

Not to mention all the things the Israelis did to the line. For the record, I think the IDF Sherman tanks would fit the build. I have no opinion on pre- and non-Sherman Shermans.

Hi guys,

I've been hoping for a while that someone would start a Sherman GB as in my stash I have the stunning Dragon Sherman IC Hybrid Firefly. I got it as a Christmas present last Christmas and haven't had the time to commit myself to it. It's a MASSIVE kit and it would would be nice to be building alongside a bunch of Shermaholics as I'm more of a German Armour modeller and am limited in my knowledge of the Sherman.

My current WIP should take until the the end of October maximum so I could could happily start building this Firefly then.

Keep me posted on any go-ahead for a Sherman GB please.

All the best,

Ben

Hi guys,

I've been hoping that a Sherman GB would crop up eventually as In my stash I have the stunning Dragon Sherman IC Hybrid Firefly kit which I received as a Christmas present last year.

It will be nice to build this kit alongside a bunch of Shermaholics as I'm a more of a German Armour modeller and my knowledge on the Sherman is limited.

My current WIP (Tamiyas Panzer III Ausf. N) will be completed by the end of October at the latest

If you do decide to go ahead with something please let me know.

Many thanks,

Ben Toast

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love this but I'm in so many GBs now I can't commit!!!!

Maybe I'll be done with something by the first of the year but I doubt it.

Still great idea and good luck with things.

I'm interested too.  I would also like it if it was Sherman variants too.  I am trying to build an M32B3 in 72nd for the Korea GB right now, and plan future Shermans for that GB anyways.

Good idea!  I hope it works out.

Cheers,

Greg

I am already overcomitted for GBs currently but I really cant say no to a Sherman. Especially when I have so many (and derivatives) in the stash...

I think I might be able to do it after the Panzer III and the Blitz GBs. I've got a M4A4 Smart kit some where around here. Sounds like fun. I think I'm in. It's the only way to improve my skills and techniques. If Andys in then I'm in!

I found some cool pictures:

Sorry I got carried away.

Too much time in the man cave.

sorry about the prolonged absence guys

the original plan was My friend (a future member) and I do start a sherman group build together since he got dragon's M4A1 at APMS. however I do not have a sherman kit right now so we decided to start it in december when I will be able to get the kit

then DoogsATX proposed a VVSS/HVSS GB and if this GB takes off then the theme will be VVSS/HVSS

BUT, I am okay with geting a sherman however I would much rather get one of eduard's new Mig-21's so I thought instead of a VVSS/HVSS GB we could try a mass production GB because the sherman and mig would fit in together

Any Questions?

All due respect, but I think a "mass production" GB would probably be too broad. Unless you're planning to establish a certain production threshold. But even then...probably still pretty wide open.

That's, I think, one problem I ran into with my Weathering GB. Sounds like a great idea...but you're also dealing with a ton of subjects with zero relation to one another. Makes it kind of feel like everyone's modeling past one another rather than a group build.
