CZECH MODELS GB?
Posted by spiralcity on Monday, November 14, 2011 10:36 AM

Would anyone be interested in tackling a Czech Models kit?

If their is any interest I will get the GB up aand running.

NOTE: These kits are truly a pain in the ***, the fit is never good and it takes time and patience to complete a model.

If you have the time and patience please feel free to leave a note here.

Czech Models can be found all over ebay. We did a prototype GB about a year ago and a couple of Czech kits where built their. I'll try to find a few pics of a few of the kits and post them.

Their are PLENTY of Czech models to chose from. I limit this to Czech because I would like everyone to have the fine experience of building one of these bad boys... lol

As I said, there are PLENTY of Czech kits to chose from. I have at least 8 in my stash.

You can find these on ebay for 1/4 of the price that retailers sell them for. I havent spent over 15.00 USD on a Czech kit yet.

1/48 yes...  You looking for 1/72?

Do you mean models made in the Czech Republic, or models of Czech subjects?

SC: I said I wouldn't enter any more GBs till I finish some more stuff off. Still I like to torture myself every now and then with a limited run kit so let me give you a definate maybe here.

I built the 'Dark Shark' about a month ago for Callsign Owl's 'Odd Animal GB' and yes it was an experience. Though frankly I've built worse limited run kits like say... ahhhhh Classic Airframes Dead.

I think you would get more interest with a limited run in general GB though. Lots of them out there, as Bsyamato noted Amodel, Classic Airframes, Azur, and Sword. I'm sure there are quite a few more out there.

I had already been thinking of doing a Classic Airframes de Havilland Hornet for one of the out of business companies GBs.

ozzman, Czech models is a brand released by squadron.

gamera, i wanted this to be a specific build aimed at czech only, their are plenty of kits and they can be found on ebay fairly cheap. I also have a few Classic Airframes on the shelf, but Czech kits are rarley built here and I thought it would be an interesting experiment.

I also built the Dark Shark, thats my kit in the photos above.

Ah, ok my apologies.

Cool, I thought I'm the only one that's ever built the 'Shark'.

I looked though my stash and found a Ryan 'Fireball' and a Curtiss 'Seamew' from Czech Models that I could contribute if you start this.

PS: If anyone is interested and doesn't have a kit Squadron has a couple of CM kits on sale this month:

1/48

Ryan 'Fireball' - $39.99 marked down to $7.99

Ryan 'Dark Shark' - $39.99 marked down to $8.00

'Bamboo Bomber' - $60.00 marked down to $39.99

1/32

F-80 'Shooting Star' $79.99 marked down to $24.99

Sounds good!

Would you be allowing cross-overs? Another poster was thinking about a seaplane GB and the 'Seamew' would fit very nicely in both your GB and his.

Seaplane GB was really intresting question , but actually none in the stash and involved again in too many GB Crying

Just today searching for a beriev 12 1/72 kit but only 1/144 kits avaible (again from amodel Bang Head )

An insane idea to scratch one in 1/72 is surrounding me

Crossovers would be ok, as long as the theme was a czech kit.

SC: Great! I'll be crossing my fingers.

Bsyamato: Yeah, I paid about half-price for my 'Dark Shark' - about $25.00 US and thought I was getting a deal. Now they mark it down to $8.00- grumble...

It and and 'Fireball' are so weird they probably don't sell well.

Oh well it was a good idea, and with the kits cheap on ebay and Squadron I thought there'd be more interest. Crying

Bsyamato has a good idea about a general limited run build there though.

I'm up to my eyeballs with the one GB I'm running. If anyone else should drop by and decide to do one I'm game.

Sorry things didn't work out Spiralcity. Really cool idea, maybe in a year or so you can throw out the idea again and get a better response.
