Over the weekend i post some pics of kits i recieved on my birthday Fri, and Scorpiomikey did the same. I was telling my other half and she came up with the idea of a GB based of kits people had recieved as gifts. I know theres a lot of great GB's on at the moment. So i figured on starting it in jan and to run for the year.
So if you have had, or you get, and model kit as a present, whether it would be for your birthday or xmas, and especially if its one thats outside your comfort zone, this would be a good chance to build it. So if there is enough interest, i will start in the new year.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Spent my Birthdayt money from Nov 9. Actually I didnt expect them....they were a oh really grab... I went to Michael's with a 50 percent off coupon and used my Michael's member rewards card to get another 20 percent off. What is awsome is after I grabbed the Sabre I went home and read in a Mag that is was a new revell release ;D Sweet!
As shown as new...
Last one is for my eight year old, tryin to get a spark going.... His attention span is like stretching sprue....please dont break please dont break... Total 51 bucks with discounts 34 ish bucks. I used my B-Day money I got on Nov. 9. Unfortunatley all they carry is Revell and noone else has models within 200 mi of me. Now to throw them in the pile and build something else! haha I can break one out for the build. Im getting into quite a few builds....hope im not getting in over my head.
Mike
Nice one. And ye, if you buy a kit yourself out of money given for anything, that counts to.
It sounds like you live in the middle of now where. Only 1 model shop within 200 miles. You need to bring this to the attention of your Senitor or someone, thats shocking.
No....not actually a model shop... =[ It a Michael's craft store... lol oh....i posted that already....
I might just enter this. That spit is in an awfully shiny box and its begging to be built.
Its the Airfix 1:48 Spitfire Mk.1/Mk.II/Mk.IIa

I'm interested, depends what the holidays produce, I got 8 projects lined up for next years GB's already so I'll have to finaggle some. A couple can be pushed back to 2014 so that will buy some breathing room.

I know what you mean Mike, i got a few GB's lined up for next year as well. But i figure another 1 won't hurt .
I'll sign up, Bish. I got both Revell's and Airfix's Battle of Britain and Airfix's Victoria Cross sets last year for Christmas and birthday respectively. They are not built yet. Got some new Airfix Spitfires for my birthday last month. No progress there, either, yet.
I'll give it some thought which one(s) to do. The VC set has a Battle, a Blenheim and a Hampden, and those are all out of my comfort zone.
A VC set, sounds interesting. Is the Blenheim that flown by Hughie Edwards.
As a matter of fact, it is!
And he even has a statue.
Hi Bish,
I'd be happy to support another one of your GBs. I might have to wrangle a new present, as the only ones I can think of at the moment are a BAe Hawk and a T-33A, both in 1/32. I don't think there is room in the schedule (or display cabinet) for anything that big next year.
I'll go through the stash one night soon, or ask for something from the big guy for Christmas.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Just thought of a question. Does the subject have to be a kit ? I've asked for a new airbrush for Christmas. Maybe it could be any model that is sprayed with the airbrush ?
I don't mind either way, just thought it an interesting question.
Or a kit bought with gift money?
checkmateking02 As a matter of fact, it is! And he even has a statue.
A lucky guess on my part. I have an MPM kit of the same aircraft. He was based at Swanton Morley at the time of his award, so its part of my Norfolk airfields project.
Tony, ye, i will go with that. Anything that was a gift, or bought with gift money, either a kit, or something used in its construction. Opens it up a bit.
OK thanks Bish. The airbrush is ordered, my wife will hand it over on Christmas morning. Do you think it would be out of line to have a kit ready to spray right then ?
As its the airbrush that is the gift, go right ahead. I think i will go for a boxing day start date and run for a year. I will post a GB thread in a week or so.
