Eindecker build
Posted by Ernie_SK on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 12:07 PM

    Hi everyone -

Well, here's some pics of my Eindecker project.  I'm in a bit of a holding pattern right now, waiting for

a replacement part from Eduard (who have been very helpful, by the way).  Slow going, but great fun.

In the meantime, I am really enjoying seeing the talent on this GB.  Man, you guys are good!

Hey Mike! Good to see you pop up...see, I told you I'd eventually build something!Big Smile

Sorry about the composition of the post...new at this (sort of an old dog, new tricks thing lol)

Hey Ernie! Good to see you too my friend! .....and that you're building again! Sweet! That E.II is looking very nice indeed. Very convincing job at replicating the hammered metal look around the cowling - probably the best I've ever seen it done. Looking forward to seeing more. Yes

Ernie -

Looks great!  How did you achieve that hammered metal look?

Hey Curt,

Thanks for the complement!  I was a bit perplexed on just how to get that look.  What I settled on

was first an airbrushed coat of Tamiya XF-16 flat aluminum, then the small marks, (trying not to

make polka-dots lol) with a silver "Sharpie" permament marker.  In 1/48 scale it doesn't look

too bad.  Hope that helps.
