Armour in the West GB (D-Day to Berlin)
Posted by Eagle90 on Sunday, April 13, 2014 7:14 PM

This is the GB thread for the Armour in the West GB, D-day to Berlin. This GB is to commemorate the last 11 months of the war in Western Europe and is open to all amour, soft skins, artillery and other ground equipment used in Western Europe between 6th June 1944, D-Day, to 8th May 1945, VE Day.

The GB will run from 6th June 2014 and end on 8th May 2015.

To enter, your build should be of a piece of Allied armour or ground equipment that served on the Western Front.

Any scale, OOB or as much AM as you like.

No Crossovers please.

Sign up at any time.

This GB will run in conjunction with the Armour in the West (Defence of the Reich GB).

Plenty of info sharing, pictures and most importantly, have fun and enjoy.

For those who take part in this GB only, this is your badge, to be displayed upon completion.

And for those taking part in both GB's, (you guys rock!) you can either  take the two individual badges or this joint option.

And for those taking part in either the Hunters GB, N Africa GB or Orphaned Armour GB, or all 3, or any of the other great GB's currently running, remember, this GB runs until May next year. So you have enough time to complete those builds before jumping onto these GB's.

This is my first solo GB (so be gentle) and a very big THANK YOU  goes out to my friend Bish for helping me with this.  I look forward to learning a lot more about armour building with this GB!

Nevermind me, I'm just here to confirm my M10 and Easy-8... Whistling

Looks like we're going to have some really nice builds here!

There's something wrong though: We have 2 Jumbos and only 1 Easy-8 here! Comeon guys, we need more HVSS Shermans! Anyone willing to volunteer for that? No? Ok, then I think I have to do it myself. I also have Dragon's M4A3E8 with the 105mm howizer in my stash. Eagle, can you put me down for that one as well?

Spartan, I do believe we will have to come up with a special badge just for you!  Between the 2 GB's, you have like 5 builds!  Bow Down

I'm going to go for the HobbyBoss T26E1 Super Pershing, with a set of Friuls that I've had in the stash for a couple of years now. I think there's enough in the box to get 'er done without any more aftermarket. I'm also going to dig out Belton Cooper's book and see if the pic I remember is of the tank before they added the armor "wings" on the sides of the mantlet, and if so, probably model it without them.

Hey Eagle, add me to the roster!  I told Bish I'd be joining, probably with a U.S. Pershing.  I think its the old Dragon T26E3 that I have in the stash.  I may change that if something else catches my eye!! Wink

Hey Eagle sign me up. The only armour kit I have at the moment for the allies is a crusader III which I don't believe saw any action in Europe. So I have to make a trip to the hobby store and pick something up. Will let you know by the week end.

Lotsa nice projects in here, but I'm telling you: We need more Easy-8s! There's no way we can overwhelm the Germans if we don't have enough of those (or Jumbos). I heard they have a whole bunch of Tigers and Panthers...

Gee, I've got two Easy-8s but I'm intending to build them up as Korean War tanks with the cool tiger faces- sorry!!! Surprise

I notice we do have a Cromwell, a Firefly, and two Pershings- ought be enough to mount a good offensive there though!

well went to the store today to pick up some paint and such when I heard this muffled sound coming from the back. Of course my curiosity got the better of me and when I went to investigate there was this box yelling 'TAKE ME HOME'. It was the cutest little M-24. So being the nice guy that I am I took him home. Now have Italeri's 1/35 M-24 Chaffee.

I hear ya!  And do not blame you one bit!  I bought 3 Revell 1/48 P-51's, a Revell 1/48 F-86, and an Italeri 1/72 B-25 this weekend at the show.........just because they looked so lonely sitting in that box all by themselves!  Boo Hoo  Poor little things!  Lord knows I don't need them, but I'm kinda like the Island of Misfit Toys King....I'll take you home!  Embarrassed
