"No arms allowed" GB
Posted by castelnuovo on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 12:22 AM

Gentlemen, would anybody be interested in a GB of unarmed military vehicles? Any scale, any era, air, sea or land as long as the vehicle itself is not armed.

If we get 10 participants it is a go. We could start in a months or so,maybe sooner or later, depending on your time, stash etc

Cheers...

AT THE STARTLINE:

Catelnuovo: jeep and C-47

CodyJ.....tba

silentbob33....Italeri's 1/35 Commando Hum-V.

pyrman64......Italeri 1/35 Opel Blitz

waynec......1/35 trumpeter URAL-4320 soviet 6x6

greentracker98.....AirfieldTractor and the Bomb Cart

lewbud.......Eastern Express 1/35 BRDM-U.  Soviet Army Prague, 1968

jibber.....Dragon Kfz.69 6X4 Vehicle w/ a towed Pak 35 in 1/72

Hmmm.... Jeep, Kubelwagen, Motorcycles, bergpanzer, Transporter trucks, transporter aircraft, some spy planes and reconnaissance stuff, some MRAPs, Medical/rescue anything (practically), and more I'm sure.

So it sounds like a lot of things available.  So yeah I think its a neat Idea.   Put me as a YES!

Sounds like an interesting idea, I have a couple of kits that would work but I'm not sure about time.  I'm already in a few other GBs at the moment.  Depending on when you'd set an end date I'd be game.

On my bench: Academy 1/35 UH-60L Black Hawk

How is about we start in a month time and run it for 6 months? Get the kits you want or finish what you are doing now.

I have a jeep and a C-47, but I have myself to finish a B-4 howitzer for "have gun-will travel II" GB.

Lets see if we can get few more folks to join.

i'm in.

i assume scout vehicles armed up would not fit as they have offensive weapons but  would vehicles that have only defensive armament, say a cargo truck with an AA HMG, fit ?

i have 20+ modern wheels that fit this category.

Hi Wayne, I thought abut that one and I would say no, they don't fit. I also have few vehicles with defensive weapons ( a jeep and a hummer) but for this GB they will not be installed. "No arms allowed" means exactly that, leave your guns at home Smile. Feel free to put a platoon of armed to the teeth soldiers in any vehicle as long as the vehicle itself is not armed.

Any chance that you build your vehicles completely unarmed?

no worries; your GB, your rules. thanks for the clarification.

narrows my choices to modern USA, GERMAN, SOVIET, PLA TANK TRANSPORTERs; GERMAN 6x6, 8x8; USA 4x4, 6x6, HEMMT, USMC 6x6; SOVIET KXKT-537L 8x8, URAL 4320 6x6, GAZ-66 4x4.

not like i do a lot of warwheels, eh.

i presume a PLA DF-21 ICBM on a launch semi would be considered armed. JUST KIDDING.

Okay will the airfield tractor (from the B24 kit) and the bomb cart (from the B17 kit) work? If so I'll do that.

Lewbud, welcome aboard. I put you on the list, just let me know when you have the kit.

Greentrucker98, yest that is OK. The tractor is unarmed and the bombs are meant for another vehicle.

Cheers...

Castelnuovo. Sorry I wasn't thinking before. The bomb cart is pretty much finished. So strike that off my list.

I'm thinking about the 1942 Army Staff Car 1 48 by Tamiya. Put me down for that instead of the bomb cart

Thanks

Ken

Lets make the start day July 6th. It should give enough time to finish what you have or order what you want/need. For me, I would like to finish the T-55 for barney memorial III GB before starting this one.

Cast, The airfeild tractor hasn't been started. Put me down for both the staff car, and the airfield tractor

Sorry for the misunderstanding

06JUL works for me. i am doing an insane BM-21 for the orphan armor GB which doesn't start until aug. the russian URAL 4320 6x6 cargo truck has the same frame and i can practice breaking things on the frame so the front wheels turn and the rear wheels adjust up and down. i have a scene for the BM-21 i am going to replicate.

Upload your pix to a photo sharing website like Photobucket. Click on your pic. Beside it will be a link. Click on that and it will say "copied". If it does not say "copied", just do it with right click, you know, copy and paste function. Come back to this forum, click on "use rich formatting", paste the link. Done. You welcome. Smile

Castel: here's a possible badge.....if you're ok with it, all I need is the end date.

I can make changes, ie. font, color, etc....just gimme an idea of what you'd like.

Cas, I've decided on Italeri's 1/35 Commando Hum-V, despite the fact that it's a command HMMWV.  I'm also going to try my hand at printing my own decals to give it markings for my old truck from when I was stationed in Germany.
