GB Feeler: In foreign service
Posted by lewbud on Monday, May 30, 2016 9:36 PM

Just wondering if there might be interest in a group build that featured aircraft in non native markings.  For example, a P-51 in Ethiopian markings, or a Mig-29 in West German markings, etc.

Sounds interesting-a great theme.

Are you going to include armor also?

Sounds like fun, I just did a similar build like this on another site. I used Academy's Mig-21PF in N. Vietnamese markings. I'll look through my stash and see what I've got, I think I have another Mig-21 I could do...I'm sure I can find one of the many countries who operated these aircraft to replicate.

Yes, yes and yes, with ,multiple entries :)

Many of my builds fit this GB. A few recent examples, French BF 108, FW 190, F4U, Swiss Hunter, Turkish Spitfire, Swedish Spitfire...the list goes on.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

'IF' this GB goes off, I have a great kit:

US MacDonnell Douglas F/A 18 Hornet or in this case RCAF CF-18A (officially CF-188A) Hornet with the added bonus of the Battle of Britain commemorative paint scheme.

What if the subject is foreign license built, but they made some tweeks to the design for their own use - would this still count?

Jack

LHS in Ottawa Ontario. I had to ask the owner about it. Canuck Model products specializes in Canadian Forces decals. They made a special deal with Academy to re-box this CF-18 with the commemorative decal set and painting guide. It was a decent price too.

I'll say yes, unless the local modifications make it noticeably different than the original.

are you going to allow crossovers. i have a 1/48 British 7T armoured car MK.IV that will be in Polish markings, a 1/35 Finniah BT-42 and a probable M102 with an alien gun crew but that has been started.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm going to table this until the new year as everyone seems to have a full plate. However, this is a spoiler alert.  You know it, you love it, you've missed it, the Weekend GB will be back this fall.BalloonsPropellerPirate

i understand, i hit a 2 month block this summer and just coming out of it now. my armored car is ready for priming. will finish it for a club monthly contest on foreign service.

question: would UN or KFOR type operations be considered foreign service? opens up a lot of possibilities for vehicles and practice doing white paint.

Yes, as long as it's in UN or KFOR markings only.

Hey Lewbud, I do have a few candidates for this GB. Mostly Aussie planes. Good to hear it will be next year as I am about 5 builds behind on my plan, and I have to do Weekend Madness of course... Catch you in November

I'm in for this one with probably a Bf-109 or Fw-190 in foreign service.

i see this is tabled until last year. that's funny given i have been off the bench for the past 4 months. took me 20 minutes to figure out my photobucket login. so here it is anyway. Big Smile

i need to touch up decals and then it is on to washes and weathering and a little base.

thanks.i appreciate the offer but this and the Trumpeter OTS ARIETE took longer than 48 hours so do not fit the criteria. i was planning on just fininshing stuff, the guys in the OTS GB probbly think i deployed or died.

i will check my stash. i found a crazy OTS BROMRY ARMC 8x8 INSTEAD. think this is some weird anime series and the instructions are in Japanese. this one looks like a STRYKER MGS with additional rocket pods OR i can replace the turret with a Russian TOS rocket assy (which could end up mounted on a BdW 6x6 truck
