For all those waiting for this GB, the wait will soon be over. I'll be opening the build thread first full week of Feb. Off work that week so might as well do it while i have the time. Kick off is still 1st April.

I know it probably means building that plane which won't be mentioned, but are decals available for the seven Americans that flew with the RAF during the Battle of Britain?

Don't recall coming across decals of those pilots - likely not popular enough as none made ace status during the BoB.  I've read they only had two confirmed kills amonst the seven of them, and only one, John Haviland, would survive the battle.

Now if you have a Spitfire Vb in the stash, you'll have better luck.  There have been some decals portraying pilots from the  three American 'Eagle' squadrons.  Most recently, Aviaeology has anounced a 10 aircraft set in all four of the popular scales:

I had not realised there were American pilots flying with the RAF that werenot part of eagle Sq. It would be nice if markings could be found. Aircraft codescould be sourced, but any individual markings might be harder to find.

Jack, that company seem to be making some nice sets. I have seen their beaufigfhter ones but not come across that one.

Hi Bish, yes Aviaeology announced their latest projects around October.  Should be here soon, even Hannants has the them listed but not in stock yet.

This was their pre-order email with particullars;

Oh yes, I will be a part of this. Trouble will be choosing which to build:

Eduard 1/48 Lysander
Wingnut Wings 1/32 SE5A
Special Hobby 1/32 Tempest
Eduard/Hasegawa 1/48 Harrier GR.7

I'm kind of leaning toward the biplane, but maybe I should start with that and go chronologically and see how many I can get done?

Thanks Jack, I have a couple of Mk. Vb's in the stash and I think one of them comes with Eagle Squadron markings.

Would be nice to see the SE5. Would be nice to get as much of a spread through the 100 years as possable.

Ok, but what if I say I will only build the SE5 if I also build that other plane people associate with the RAF?

Kidding. I may also come in with a Tiffie if I get to feeling like torturing myself with Hasegawa inserts.

Ok, I think I may need to change my entry to the 1/48 Eduard Brisfit. I have something I want to try out with the paint on a smaller scale than the SE.5a.

I know I'm going to be clawing my eyes out whenit comes to rigging, but whatever, like you said...
