Here's what I'm doing (crossover with the 80s group build)

It's the #1 yellow championship bike with Kenny Roberts rider

Got these as a lot off ebay for pretty cheap

Mike - BMW looks good, never too late

Thanks,

John

Here's some photos of the Beemer as I left off (gasp!) three years ago. After the pics were taken, there was some sanding to neaten seams on the engine and trans parts and another swipe of putty on the sidecar joins.

Next step will be to reinforce the cross rail that joins the side frames to the engine bearers. It's a weak point, and needs help. I've got some correct size metal tubing and am thinking of building a jig to line things up and epoxying in a replacement cross rail.

Yeah what the heck, I'll give it a shot if you want to take things over Bill. Up to you, no pressure.

As I said I've never built a bike other than small scale. Hopefully as a Tamiya kit this as John says should go like silk. On the other hand it could be the biggest disaster since the original 'Casino Royale'... Sad

Glad to see this is coming back around! Just went thru the previous posts..too bad so many of the pics are gone, there were a lot of good builds posted. I'm going to dig out my entry, Italeri's 1/9 German BMW with sidecar, which went in a plastic tote due to life reasons about the time this tread went silent. Hope Ken (Greentracker) just lost interest; haven't seen anything from him in quite a while.

Thanks for picking up the flag GM - looking forward to more great two wheelers. How about reposting the photos of your Norton. Love those bikes!

Looking forward to your build.  New to this for you will be a tiny screwdriver and vinyl plumbing.  Probably a metal coil spring over the monoshock.  Brilliant kits.

Thanks,

John

John, yeah I love Tamiya kits- if it's anything like their newer armour and aircraft kits it should fit like a dream.

I think you'll enjoy that one.  Tamiya bikes are some of their best engineered kits - more so the later releases like your Ninja.

Thanks,

John

The only bike I've ever built is the same Tamiya US MP bike Nick posted above.

So I ordered this from HLJ. Just waiting for it to get in stock. I know squat about bikes but it looks totally badass and I wanted to try something different. So I might be willing to jump into a second GB here too.

If I could continue my stalled police bike from the orignal build.......????

(I made a mess of the exhaust pipe and the kit became a shelf queen.)

Greentracker, this build needs to get rolling again.

Motorcycle phase two.

I'd be happy to take it on if that's ok.

Anyone?

I would like to ask if a 1/35th scale bike can be entered?

I hope this isn't too late, But anyhow, The bike and the MPs would be great for this GB.

My apologies to everyone for my absense. Sometimes life happens.

Very nicely done, GM. The exhaust shines like real chrome! Hey, I'm calling dibs on the first ride!

That was worth the challenges you had with it, I'd say. A real beauty.

Thank you for taking the time to post the finished pics.

Here's the 1/9 scale Italeri Norton 750 Commando PR. My uncle owns a 1972 and he was delighted to see the model.

There's a bunch of negative stuff to say about the model, in particular the comic pages. But all in all it is a pretty cool bike and certainly has a lot of detail.

It steers, the wheels turn and the shocks work too.

We're done here.

Congrats on getting 'er done. Looks good, like the yellow.

Looking forward to more pics. If you do get some sunshine, please feel free to send some to Indiana.

GM,

That turned out sweet! How did the wiring harness work for you? Yeah, I'm looking forward to more photos too.

Looking forward to the additional pics but that sure looks cool.  Nice job GM.  Especially considering all the wrestling you had to do.

Thanks,

John

We're done here.

I'll post more photos tomorrow when/ if the sun comes out.

To say this was a hard build is to be kind. I'm really happy I have wrench turn knowledge of the real thing, but the bike was not mass produced and most every one had a different set up.

I'm quite happy to have wrapped it up, thanks for the GB Greentracker.

Putting the oil in the tank and polishing the bug killer.

Lots to show, she'll be roaring within the week.
