Hi Brandon, your tomcat is looking really sharp. Nice job.
On the Bench: Too Much
plasticjunkie I built that Italeri kit not long ago for a GB here. It's a very nice kit and did some scratchbuilding on the pit and weapons and got some resin parts to make it correct.

This is where you post a picture, Steve!

Pictures, Steve, we need pictures...
jeaton01 Yes, I'm waiting for some resin from Whirlybirds to use in the Italeri 1/72 B-26K. I have lots more candidates too, if I have time.

Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
John, u finished the c123 so quickly... Any plans on doing another build for this GB? :-)
Oops, I almost screwed up my F-100! I just finished laying down a coat of Tamiya spray gloss black (decanted & airbrushed) on the exhaust section of the rear fuselage (and other misc parts). I decanted this stuff several months ago and it looked like it was needing a bit of thinner so I thinned it with Tamiya laquer thinner... Well after I was done painting, I was cleaning up my work area and discovered that Instead of grabbing my bottle of Tamiya Laquer thinner, I accidentally thinned the paint with Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner. No idea what's in the stuff, but I am guessing it's a stronger version of their laquer thinner. Paint went on fine and I had no clue while painting... Still, I'll pay closer attention next time!
Skyhawk look in ng good AA.
A-37 looking good as well Jacknewbill!
Noticed my Hun had numerous micro ejector pin like marks all over th belly. Usually neare the corners of the wheel wells or speed break well. Spent some tedious time fixing those today as well as filling and sanding drop tanks...
Feel the need to spray something so I will probably paint the horizontal stabilizers next set them aside...
I like the pit on that tomcat! Just checking in with photos of my kit and work so far on the A-37. I completed the pit and the pilots that came with this one were identical twins but I decided to proceed with them as is. I got the fuselage together and just finished the wings. I will check back after I get the sanding completed and the canopy on.
Looks good. Those are nice colors.
Started painting the camo scheme on the A-4:
Gotcha, Carlos.
Ok, put me down with a Monogram 1/48 A-7B.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

cbaltrin Great looking cockpit PJ!
Great looking cockpit PJ!
Thanks cb!
Latest progress on the Skyhawk: tail planes and control surfaces installed, just about to button up the cockpit and do some exterior color spraying.
Thank you kindly BK.
PJ, those bits added to the sidewalls really seals the deal. That pit looks the part for sure now. Very nice.

A lot !! And I mean A LOT!!
2024 Kits on deck / in process / completed
14 / 5 / 2
You did a good job of keeping the lines really thin there on the pre shade Brandon. It is subtle but enough to give it some life. I think it looks sharp!
BK the Tomcat is coming along nicely. I love the early hi vis schemes. I have built several Monogram, Hasegawa and Tamiya Tomcats and yes they take a loooong time to paint but man they look so sharp! I like marbling with black, tan, green and white to get that weather beaten look of the later schemes but usually go fairly clean with the early ones.
I finally finished the pit so I'm posting a couple of pictures before it gets closed up in the fuselage. I added some side wall decals from my spares box to busy up both offices. The light is reflecting off the left consoles in the first picture blocking some of the details.
Wow, that looks sharp Brandon.
PJ, nice fix on the pit issue. I don't think it is a "whoops" on their part, but rather more of a "whatever, this is easier to design" decision. Great work, it really looks good now.
I've spent the last several days painting the F-14A. I forgot how much work it is painting these modern birds. I have a good 8 hrs just in masking this up to various shades. I lost one of the nose antenna during the first spraying and I don't have anything like it and scratching those up looks funny, so I left it off. Other than that I'm pretty happy with it so far.
I'm not a fan of preshading because most people way over do the look. I thought I would give it go again on this one as it favors this AC. Since switching over to Vallejo paints I am having a great deal more satisfaction with my paint work. I'm hooked on this stuff now. I think my preshading is pretty good for once. This will work well with the oils I have in mind for the weathering. I need to let it sit for 24 hrs between painting as this stuff is soft for quite awhile after spraying, but I haven't had and lifting so far, and that makes me very happy. I hope to be nearly done by the end of the year. We will see.
Great problem solving, guys.
CB that looks great and a fantastic fit too. I had a similar problem with my Thud not with the canopy but had to extend the pit side walls to cover up huge gaps overlooked by Trumpeter.
Got some free time last night to cover up Trumpeter's goof. Here is the pit and walls OOB. I circled the ugly gaps to make them more visible.
I used some plastic card stock measuring and cutting the parts to get a good fit then shimmed the bottoms where I drew the arrows. The shims bring up the sides even with the pit consoles.
Looks great now that the gaps are gone. Now I can complete the PE work in the back pit and paint the plastic card pit grey then add some lead weight in the nose just in case Weasel decides to tail sit.
That’s a great idea for the Hun’s canopy fix!
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Spent a few hours this morning improving the fit of the canopy on the hun. Covered the cockpit in BMF, set the canopy in the correct position, then filled the gaps with slo-zap. Removed canopy and started sanding... Basically I had to extend the frame of the canopy to match the fuselage.

I lost faith in those conversion charts of Urban's a long time ago. Some of the suggested mixs are simply ridiculous.
