Have you ever watched the Food Channel--specifically the TV show Chopped? They give their chefs a collection of four ingredients, sometimes east to work with sometimes hard to work with, that they MUST incorporate into their dish. I'm interested in doing something like this with a group build. I propose one "ingredient" that must be in everyone's builds and the first three respondents on the official GB page each propose one extra "ingredient" of their choice, too. These four ingredients thereafter MUST be incorporated into the builds of all those participating in the GB somehow. We have to keep the required ingredients cheap and not impossibly burdensome, but we can get imaginative. (Example: must incorporate something red, something from your backyard, etc. into the models and/or dioramas)
What do y'all think of this "Models Incorporated" idea?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” - John 3:16-17
Octopus. Make it challenging.
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Haha! Don't think I can go THAT hard!
WOW! Come to think of it, I thought of something for octopus....can you believe it?!
There was a talented modeler who entered a scratchbuilt octopus dive suit at the 2010 IPMS Nationals. It was a huge hit!
It makes me think of Weird Al's movie "UHF", where a Japanese game show host made contestants vie for fish. "Ooooooh ~ Okuto-pus! Berry tasty!"
Wow that's going large! Fantastic. I had the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura in mind lol
Thanks,
John
I had a decal for a Wildcat in mind!
Sounds like a cool idea John. Can't commit to it yet but I really like it!!!
And cool diorama Real G! Thanks for posting the photo- I'd love to have seen that in person.

Thanks! Be great to have ya join! :D
Thanks!!! No sure what I have that would fit an octopus motif though other than some Cthulhu figures...
Well, octopus may or may not be "on the menu". That all gets determined after the GB is officially set up. :)

Lol, okay!!!
One of the guys in our club who built a lot of dioramas used to stick a squirrel in there somewhere in every one.
That's fun! I know they sell 1/35 pigeons and I saw model cats for sale, too. I'd like those kits! It'd be great to insert them into dioramas! Gotta love animals.
Awesome idea, I'll be in!
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Will anyone else be brave enough to join?
Since I am such a troublemaker, I'll join in! Not sure if I have any octopus kits lying around though. I have a squid, but no octopus. Oh, and a friend gave me a couple of 1/35 cats. My friend likes to have animals in his vignettes. So far, he has had cats, dogs, sheep, a cow, birds, and a whole ice berg's worth of penguins!
Oooh...I LOVE the cats! Wish I could get me some! They'd be perfect for dio's!
It's great when you can insert animals into modeling. I just don't have any outside the decals!
I wonder what you'd insert the penguins into?

The model was the Soya, a Japanese resarch vessel. At 1/700 scale, representation, not replication, is enough to fool the eye. He made tiny "orange wedges" by slicing the end of a plastic rod at an angle, then painted the outside of the slices black and dotted one tip of the wedge yellow.
Once placed in groups next to the ship, I'll be darned you would swear that they were penguins!
Woo! 1/700 is small for penguins!
Penguins are great!
But what about the Shoggoth!?!
So, thinking GB badge here:
The photos are of dioramas this Japanese artist makes incorporating everyday items into the scenes. I figure it would be appropriate. There are more pics online; they're fun!
Gamera Penguins are great! But what about the Shoggoth!?!
Good thing Shoggoth ain't real!

I keep telling myslef that everytime its raining outside late at night and I hear a rustling in the trees that sounds too loud just for the wind.
I hope not!!!
Love the badges John, great job!
PFJN2 I keep telling myslef that everytime its raining outside late at night and I hear a rustling in the trees that sounds too loud just for the wind.
LOL
But maybe they are real...Don't forget to imagine a juvenile Shoggoth popping out of the drain! Drain-O kills 'em though!
Gamera I hope not!!! Love the badges John, great job!
Thanks!
I had to look up what a Shoggoth was. Yikes what an unpleasant monster! Kinda made me think about the converted humans in the first Suicide Squad movie, with their bubbly skin and multiple eyes.
Lol, sorry guys!
Just figured someone had read H.P. Lovecraft's 'At the Mountains of Madness' where a group of artic explorers stubble on an ancient non-human civiliation and wake up a shoggoth. The ending has it chasing them though a flock of penguins rolling over and crushing some and flinging others around like bowling pins! When Real G mentioned a flock of penguins that came to mind!
